It would be a customer effort more than anything else. You would think there'll be other (read: better) options available if Andretti would go down that route, a Porsche LMDh comes to mind.
Alpine has never expressed any interest to race in the US previously and the only hints to a US program is the fact that a LMDh will be eligible on both sides of the pond and some noises about an Andretti F1 campaign with Alpine engines. Alpine is probably focused on WEC only but it's hard to imagine the company objecting to the extra media attention the Andretti name is providing. When I think about it, it has a high pedigree of Nissan Motorsport marketing to it, what's Darren Cox doing these days? |

Well, why not. Porsche is running with Penske now, and the BMW is Rahal's, which leaves Ganassi. I see Ford walking down that isle with Chip on that, with a GTP rather than a GT-3.

Ganassi will be running Cadillacs in IMSA and WEC and there is no Ford GTP program.

I can't imagine Andretti would want to get beat by Penske in two series while running the same equipment At least an Alpine (or whatever it may be called here) would give them cover.

Shame about Ford... Would've liked to have seen a varient of the Coyote in action.
Andretti- Oreca-Nissan/Infiniti... Sounds interesting. Especially considering the original GtP-Z of the 80's. |

There were rumors about a mclaren lmdh powered by ford 3.5L v6 ecoboost, but probably it was just a fake rumor like many others related to mclaren. Ford will be in GTD/GT3, they don't care about prototypes, even when it was involved in P class with ganassi rileys, it was just an engine supplier.
Renault is pushing hard to enstablish a new sport identity to alpine brand, in my opinion it will be rebranded as nissan (or more probably infiniti) only if renault/alpine will keep on staying out from US/NA market. |

there's two more that I'd like to see get in on this, but you know that they'll take their sweet time. Making the rounds at the races, asking questions... but, ultimately they will make an announcement by '24.
The "three-pointed star" and "the leaper"... you know who I mean... |

mercedes is too much involved in f1 on a motorsport and political side to focus on something else, they are also retiring from FE. Who is the leaper, jaguar? |

Yes
Think about it, when was the last time that Jag was involved, really involved, in prototypes. We're talking about not just a decade, but last century. Here's the chance to be in a car that can do multiple major races, on both continents. You're going to miss out on a chance like that? |

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing is that Alpine makes one of the cars available to the Michael Valiente team.
Represent. It would make a great PR move. |

How will LMDH be balanced against Hypercars?
Will Hypercar teams be ok with cheaper cars being able to compete on equal basis? If LMDH does compete and can outrace Hypercar, will this lead to more manufacturers committing to LMDH instead of Hypercar - would ACO be ok with this? And vice versa for Hypercars going to race in IMSA Wonder if all of this will drive a lot of BOP controversies |

As far as costs go, the Porsche LMDH is actually more expensive to buy than the Glickenhaus hypercar, so I'm not sure the manufacturers in Hypercar can expect an upperhand for spending more money. That is how this combined class has been pitched from the beginning. It isn't a surprise to Toyota, Peugeot, Ferrari, to be competing with cars made on the lmdh platform. |

LMH and LMDh are the same size and weight, use the same tyres, have the same max power limit and the same downforce to drag ratio, before BoP. If anything the performance should be easier to balance than it is for GTs.
Even the 2wd vs 4wd thing is less of an issue with the high front wheel drive activation speed they have now. Positive! |

McLaren continuing to flirt with LMDh as the 'will they, won't they' saga continues.
https://racer.com/2022/07/05/mclaren...-gtp-decision/ I could have sworn we've had almost these exact quotes from Brown before. |

The Isotta Fraschini Hypercar is... real?
https://www.dailysportscar.com/2022/...-in-build.html Very cool exclusive by DSC. Amazing if this makes it on to the grid. Feels like inherently more hurdles for these boutique brands to overcome but sounds promising. |

Seems like Isotta Fraschini is serious about their planned Hypercar. I'm interested to see how this program develops. Maybe 2023 is a bit too early if it comes to fruition, but would definitely be a welcome addition in my opinion. Reminds me of the small boutique brands challenging the big brands from back in the day.

Fascinating prospect. Interesting to hear who the engine OEM will be. With Porsche and BMW fully committed to their new campaigns, it leaves Audi, Mercedes and Opel?
