The wheels on that Alpine A110 looks amazing! They are somehow similar to the ones I bought off 4WheelOnline for my GT. I also bought them for a great bargain, mind you.

That was why I was thinking of them. I think as a constructor they would love to be there, if they can get the car homologated for GT3.

I say: not a chance of that. It seems quite clear to me that the major OEMs have no interest in competing (and sometimes losing) against specialist builders such as Mosler, Ginetta or Reiter and will thus block all attempts of those guys getting into GT3 - if necessary by quarantining them in national championships by making sure that they only get national homologation. There really haven't been any successful GT3 projects by boutique manufacturers since the Alpinas, Morgans and Ascaris of the late noughties - and I suspect it will stay that way until there is a drastic drop in the numbers of interested OEMs.

I think the big issue for them if they wanted to go GT3 racing would be the need to build a certain number of road cars. The news about the Maserati is interesting, I did read that they wanted to go racing with the MC20 but didn’t see anything regarding which class or where. As mentioned GT3 seems the logical destination so I watch with interest. |

So what was your favorite era of interclass battles in sportscar racing? Some examples are:
GT1 vs WSC in 1990s in IMSA and Le Mans LMP1 vs LMP2 in 2006-2008 in ALMS LMP2 vs DP (and sometimes vs GTLM) in IMSA Weathertech 2014-2016 Perhaps there are others I'm overlooking.. Probably the most memorable are the LMP vs GT1 fights at Le Mans from 1995 through 1999. What do you think? Too bad we don't have more of these. Maybe we might get one later in the decade with hypercar vs lmdh? |

IMSA WeatherTech is adding LMP3, so maybe it happens.

Bechtolsheimer Purchases Lola Cars Brand, Technical Assets
It would be good to see a new Lola somewhere, somehow...
Hard to see them where they should be, in prototype racing. https://sportscar365.com/industry/be...hnical-assets/ |

They could do development work for a GT manufacturer a la Ford/Multimatic but would have to do some convincing...

Any speculation on next years (2023) WEC calendar. I am Australian based and am aiming to attend the Spa Round. I have friends near the circuit but would like to give them as much warning of my impending arrival as possible so they can accommodate me.

Calculated guess: May 6 race day.
Just basing that on usual date for the race, and the fact that Le Mans is going to be on the same weekend as it was this year. |

No idea where to post this but this is low-key very big news.
https://sportscar365.com/industry/fi...ings-overhaul/ Definitely going to have some ramifications up and down the grids in almost all top series seemingly. |

sometimes we joke about how modern cars are competing in "historic" racing. Well this past weekend at Cota the Masters Endurance series was in support of F1. A Cadillac DPi was on pole. Yes the same model that just raced at Petit a month ago! Modern GT3 cars were also on the grid.
