More info on customer cars.
Proton is still planning a post le mans debut but hasn't ruled out the 24 hours. Their IMSA car will be there starting with Road America and will feature the same drivers as WEC car. https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...r-porsche-963/ |

DSC has some interesting notes from Sebring this week.
https://www.dailysportscar.com/2023/...ock-notes.html How many Porsche 963 chassis have Multimatic delivered? Quote:

"It is not clear whether those showcar chassis can also serve as race car spares."
It does make one wonder how much a show car costs? |

This also gives us some information about supply chains. Obviously Multimatic hasn't had problems delivering tubs, so all the other parts on the car must be the reasons delivery to customers is still in progress. |

Bring em on for The Mitty, first time in competition on Road Atlanta at The Mitty next month would be GREAT
It always sounded like assembly of the cars and delivery of a full car was the challenge, all the teams seemed like the hybrid system as one of the big limiters and Porsche it sounded like was testing without it a while. |

According to sportscar365, Christensen and Cameron will be doing "double duty" this weekend, running the penske porsches in both events. Wonder if Ganassi has a similar one with his Cadillac drivers.

Porsche seem slow in WEC and team believe is not BOP but the performance of the car
How could they be this slow after so much testing even slower than cadlillac? Could it be the multimatic chasis not up to scratch? - Riley before hand was horrible and Mazda only became competitive after a lot of concessions from IMSA Also Oreca and Dallara have experience of developing winning LMP2 chassis Then again only start of season, things could change drastically quite soon |

There always seems to be an expectation that Porsches will perform from the word go. Life isn't always like that....

They're generally very well prepared and they're also the marque that everyone looks to for sportscar success, but they don't have a magic wand any more than anyone else does....

To be fair, Porsche has the highest hit rate of any factory that has spent more than a handful of years in sportscars.
But I do agree with the general sentiment. Even on here, the difference in reaction to Porsche's and Peugeot's endurance tests was stark. |

Well they certainly put the prep. in. The others aren’t rookies either though.
This is great. Everyone is super close and we’ve got potential for years of fight. Bring it on. Looking forward to the other tracks, how they get to know the car more and the development of the series with it becoming even closer. And of course the suggestion that when they are at the front it is sand related! |

Yep. Good to see the purveyors of sand products getting some press. They have a vital role to play whenever new cars hit the track.....

I guess there are still supply chain issues, and Penske had wanted to slow customer programs (slow delivery) because of concerns about support demands.

If there's anything else, they had some private testing at Spa over the weekend. Looked pretty good, even with some ocaisional rain. Seems that the Ferrari was on track as well, which made for a great comparison between the two.
Lots of improvement from the both of them, maybe we'll get some real competition against the Toyota. |
