Thanks for th slink, I’m getting quite excited.
As we’ve heard straight from the horses mouth they have run some successful endurance tests, so that bodes well. Although I can’t help thinking that reliability is still a concern for such a new car and team. If they are successful here it will be very impressive. Good luck to them. Speed is so hard to judge for this new category. Looking forward to it. |

Great to see, and can't wait to see how the 007 looks today at Portimao, should be able to get a good feel pretty quickly I guess. An exciting weekend, and if I wasn't racing much smaller and slower things myself I'd be glued to a screen somewhere. Good luck!

Very much so. Think of the opposition. One is one of the biggest car manufactures, they other is an established car that has raced many a time.

It looked like Westbrook ran out of time before he managed to pull a neat lap together and have tires in the operating window.
How much of that 1.8 s was still on the table in that session? |

I’m an hour and a bit behind so taking a risk.
Glickenhaus seemed to struggle to get the tyres going at the start too. |

The only way is up. I’m just so glad the car has made it onto the grid. We’ve been waiting for this moment for a very long time

Seems that after initially getting going they eat their tyres on circuits like this. Mainly the rears.

And i have to say, seeing this car on track with all the other cars we are more accustom to seeing is great. It definitely has a unique body shape and the variety is so nice to see. Watching the race today reminded me to pick up some team gear. I have a new hat and t-shirt on the way! |

Yes, hopefully that is a tonne of experience with the car in race conditions.
They've learnt about the tyres. Uncovered some weaknesses. Another race and is there any more testing before Le Mans? Last edited by Adam43; 13 Jun 2021 at 19:44. |

Given that this is not the type of track the car has been built for, being ~1.5 seconds away from the other hypercars is no cause for concern at the moment. We should expect the pace to be closer at Monza, hopefully the reliability will be better.
I didn't see much of a top speed advantage when they were going down the front straight with the Toyota/Alpine though. I didn't have timing up, what were the trap speeds for al three cars? |

I was able to watch the race mainly during first 2 hours and during the 6th-7th hour... looking to the alkamel data, 007 was somehow able to run in a 1.33 racepace with some laps slower and few laps in 1.32, which performancewise is good considering was basically the racepace of best lmp2 with the little difference 07 is a well known 2017 car, 007 was first official race.
About the tires issues 007 had in the first hour, if I am not mistaken alpine/R13 uses the same 29/71-18 34/71-18 of 007 and they never had issues, guess michelin HYP compound simply doesn't fit good for heavier cars, but at the same time maybe the team has still to find the best set-up for their car... anyway monza and le mans shouldn't be as demanding as portimao about tires managment. Unlike toyota that during green flag periods had regular stints of about 57-58 minutes, I've noticed that 007 last stint was 67 minutes long with a pace of 1.33-1.35 and just the outlap and another single lap on >3 minutes... that insanely long stint is justified only by the 110lt. |
