Why can't we go back to the days of just two commentators talking at us down a phone line about a race we joined at lap 23. Yours etc. Disgusted from Epping. |

Not sure about Steve Jones. He's to front it. Anything I've seen him on he's come across as a bit 'smarmy' and insincere.

I don't know who he is. What's he on?
Wasn't expecting much of the Blue Peter presenter on beeb, but he worked out well. Edit: Just looked him up. Isn't he from Stereophonics? I've not seen any of the programmes he's been in. |

I do miss those days, Mr. Disgusted. Although starting the broadcast before the start of the race is one innovation I wouldn't roll back.

C4 have the paralympics again this year from Rio, what better to show that they aren't just focusing on those 3 weeks, than by having a disabled racing driver do the odd feature over the season.

I think Prost has some stake in the e.dams Formula E team as well, doesn't he? Which may not be unconnected to his Renault role.

He used to present (the unlamented) T4 and I think he hosted the first series of The X Factor USA. Not, I think we can safely say, a motor racing specialist.

He's said in the past 6 weeks, since getting the job, that he's watched every single practice/qualifying session and race from last season, and some of them twice. So there's no arrogance there, he's working on his weakness. Apparently his aim for this season is to get Kimi to smile. Good luck on that one. |

To be honest, I didn't dislike Jake Humphries as I thought his lack of 'involvement' with the sport enabled him to see the bigger picture. There were a few instances when he was able to stop EJ & DC "playing brum-brums" and keep the show moving on. Hopefully the new guy will have the same effect, but I must admit to my concerns about him 'bringing more fun into the shows'. |

He's also watched some of the test sessions trackside with Karunpedia, so good on him for doing his homework

I also quite liked Humphries, and he did do his best to keep things moving along as best as he could, which I suppose is the art of a good anchor person.
However, for those of you who will be watching, although I applaud their commitment to not interrupt the live races with adverts, I do hope that they will not try to emulate ITV and their coverage of the BTCC who cram in as many ad-breaks as they can between races, which includes one that is broadcast on the green flag lap. Doing that you can sometimes miss an incident that happens on the run up to the start. |

How long after the flag, will be the interesting one, realistically there is space for a relatively short ad-break before the podium, but since we now have cameras following the drivers into the anti-room, with the audience hearing that first exchange between the drivers ... I wouldn't want to lose that. |

For me if they have to cram in more ad breaks before and after the race to avoid ad breaks during the race, that's a price worth paying

One worrying thought that's just crossed my mind is: will they be cramming ad breaks in between the three qualifying sessions? This could be another reason to record (even the live) qualifying sessions to watch slightly later so I can fast-forward through the adverts...

Yes, this is why they like the three session for stand concern was raised over proposed changes before they retained that element.

It is pretty obvious that as adverts pay heavily towards CH4 coverage that there will be plenty stuffed in everywhere, except the race.
Yes, I was a Jake camp too. He said it plainly and was a "family" type bloke. I hope this new one doesn't go too over the top. Look on the bright side. CH4 could have tried for Chris Evans.... |

I liked him too, most of the time. He loved the sport, unlike one who used to present it on ITV.

Pity Suzi Perry has gone back to bikes, I thought she did a great job. Have C4 said anything about ad breaks yet? |
