I've been reading Dick Johnson's autobiography on Kindle and found the Sierra years very interesting, especially his bust up with Andy Rouse over the engine management chips he was being supplied with, which contributed to his awful 87 season.

And yet Mr Brock bought 2 cars, a shedload of running gear and the technology to operate, and managed to compete in seasons 1989 and 1990 both competitively and reasonably reliably...

The TDR pair do seem to have a different stance to the others....
well noticed there... I was the trainee mechanic for terry at the time of building these cars, one of my jobs was to saw the swinging arms to increase the camber on the rear tyres after avon suggested a neg camber of 5 deg..

yes you are correct, I was a trainee mechanic working for Terry when these cars was built in 88. 1 of my more tedious jobs was to saw through the rear swing arm on the car to increase the rear camber along with the suggested 5 deg of the avon tyres recommendations for the front setup

OK OK....... I give in.....it is the Eggenberger Trampio car that won the Japanese Group A Championship in 1988. When Homologation ended in 1990 it was put into storage & has never run since. It will arrive here in the next couple of weeks. The 1990 Rouse BTCC Sierra also recently returned here. I think the intention is for both cars to be used in one way or another.

Where is here?

Are you sure homologation ended in 1990. The RS500 was homologated in 1987, so it should be current until 31/12/92? Or is it 1990 because the XR4Ti was homologated in 1985?

Yes I think you are right Gp A went on after 1990 in some countries. And some RS500`s did race in Japan after 1990. But I think the arrival of the NIssan GTR`s probably made RS500`s a bit obsolete in Japan.

As the original owner/builder of the car, Graham Goode stated on Facebook some time ago. How that car is now doesn't represent how it was when first built, or when driven by Damon Hill in 1989!

That's one which is probably particularly well-known to plastic model kit enthusiasts- Tamiya did their 1/24 RS500 as the Trampio/Ciesse Piumini car as well as in Eggenberger/Texaco guise. I've still got one tucked away in my loft- Funnily enough I never did get round to the Eggenberger!

I recently was given that model by a friend who won it in a raffle. I haven't removed the plastic yet, not sure if I should.

I made a DJR Sierra from that kit.

There was also an Eggenberger kit, but the Trampio kit was moulded in white and therefore easier to spray red than the Eggenberger kit which was moulded in black.

I'd missed this one (don't think it's been mentioned before?). Prospect, (who IIRC run the Labatt's M3 that Max Goff has been racing in the HSCC Supertouring series) have got the two 1988 Imberti/Jolly Club RS500s...

I was wondering if anyone can help me identify a decal on the Bond Caltex car from 1988. the decal on the upper rear quarter panel just behind the door.
This the best pic I can find of it at about 4:42 in this clip.
