11 cars ran?? Insanity is everyone expecting you not to fall apart when you find out everything you believed in was a lie.

The spread is a bit less in free practice, if you ignore Docker, who's no less than 11.5 seconds slower than Sutton! I'm guessing something's not as it should be with the Golf as he was nowhere near that far off the pace in the test sessions... Better news is just 7-tenths covering Sutton, Taylor and Lloyd at the sharp end of the timesheet. https://tcruk.co.uk/images/events/Ev...s/Practice.pdf |

Huge accident for Gilmour and Swift. The Alfa looks flattened. The MSV fence did the job but took a hard hit. Until the Red flag Sutton was pulling away from the pack.

The organisation of this championship might be it's own biggest enenemy. Halfway through this restarted race both P2 (Palmer Jr) and P3 (Taylor) get 15second penalties for allegedly starting out of position. It gets added to the timing screen, then whilst the commutator is trying to make sense of it, they both have the penalty rescinded. Confusion reigns right now if it'll be applied post race or not at all.
Meanwhile Ash Sutton has won at a canter. A different class to everyone else. He's made everyone look average. A 16 second winning margin. Even superstar Dan Lloyd. 9 finishers. |

The series is a mess, it needs sorting if it’s going to have another season

ASH Sutton double win. Disappointing driving standards in the championship again. Shovel the guy in front out of the way instead of passing clean.
I can't decide if Suttons crushing wins prove how good he is, or prove how lacking everyone else is. |

Didn't get to watch it, but I'm glad it sounds like the field was shaken up a bit more... as much as I wanted Lloyd to get a clean sweep!

I think it if it proves anything it's that TCR cars seem quite easy to jump in to and drive quickly straight away. That's been the feedback from quite a few drivers who've switched from different touring cars to these.

Its a shame it doesn't seem to be working, but outside of WTCR, TCR Germany and TCR Europe, STCC and Italy, is TCR doing all that well?
TCR classes in IMSA, PWC, Asia, Thailand, UK, Iberian/Spainish, etc all barely pull in 5-10 cars. Are there just too many places to race TCR or for the UK and US is it more appealing to run in GT4? |

It’s one of these series that seems a good idea at the time, but in reality is going to be a struggle. Remember the British C2 series? That was a great idea, but that struggled with grid numbers

Why is everyone so dramatic when it comes to TCR? So some penalties were given, then removed? SRO, ACO and IMSA have all done that within the last year.

On the other hand touring cars were never big thing in US, but at least PWC is having 12-14 cars. About GT4 and later GT3. Young drivers think that GT cars are better and they represent bigger class than touring. So they think of themselves as better drivers if they race with GT cars. Like Gosia Rdest, Simon Larsson, Giacomo Altoe moved to GT classes from TCR. But at least TCR is making some nice racing and big grid in countries that last saw that kind of action in ST days. IMO it's much better class then TC1, NGTC (works great in BTCC, no comment about STCC) and S2000 (worked great before they introduced turbo engines) |

If the race director/stewards can't back themselves to hand out a fair penalty that sticks, or utilise a framework of penalties for various scenarios consistently, then what's the point of it all? A bloke gets to stand on the podium, accepts a trophy, sprays the bubbly, ten minutes later he's been relagated back to 4th or whatever, because the officials have back-flipped on a penalty they've handed out mid-race. Not really surprised the entries are slipping. |
