Amonfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Charlie Milner had a Bluebird with a Chev in it, made its debut around 1986, not sure if this became the Hughes car or not...... I have'nt seen it race for a long time....

Skaife and Richo were both supposed to run at the AGP meeting, but Skaife rolled his car during practice on Friday, writing it off. Skaife had the newer car (the car used for Bathurst), whilst Jim was driving the first GTR built (winner at Oran Park ATCC, and the spare car for Bathurst). The cars had different door mirrors (old car had black ones, new car had white ones).

Spot on; this was in the touring car race that supported the Rothmans F5000 meeting at Sandown. I think it was the only time that the HDT used a four-door A9X under John Sheppard.

I remember seeing pictures of this car at the MCM, and thinking straight away it was a cheap imitation. Even my uncle (who can barely remember yesterday, but could accurately tell you the fastest lap of any 1970's races....scarily!) said he didn't think they ran a 4-door in 78!

The HDT DVD puts pay to that! They gave Harvey the new car, and let Brock, the "new boy" back, have the old donk. Something about not wanting to upset Harves, the loyal man, by giving Brock the new machinery (which I have to say is reasonably fair).

"Old Flexible". It was written up in "The Unforgiving Minute" as having been the ex-Bond 72 Bathurst car, although some reports refute this apparently. It was the one that Dennis Geary crashed in 1974's great race. I'd be interested to know what it did in 1973. Johnson's recorded memories of the car were fond ones, and it certainly turned the numbers at Lakeside.

"The Unforgiving Minute" also mentions in passing, that there was at that stage (1984) an ex-Johnson XU-1 under Mrs Johnson's house, without any clue as to the identity of that car or its history. Any clues to that one?

If memory serves me, Dick's original LC GTR, which raced in Eager's colours, was updated to LJ XU-1 specs and was raced beside the Zupps car that Dick was also campaigning, and was modified (or in the process of being modified) to take a V8 when he got rid of it. It was the first GTR Torana to hit the track apparently. Now, was this the car sold to Charlie O'Brien, or Barry Wraith? Each evidently bought a Torana from Johnson, but who got what?

Wraith would have ended up with the Sports Sedan version woul'nt he? Barry raced a Ford Powered LJ circa 75, and DJ raced one so one would assume it was the same car. The car was later revamped i think with Chev Power for the ASSC in 1976......

Sorry TSR, the bubble is the "shire" mate. Known as the bubble, as most diehard Shire residents think there is no other civilisation outside of "god's country", most have never ventured north of Tom Ugly's or Captain Cook, or further south than Heathcote, and still believe that you require a passport to go along Heathcote Rd.

Therefore they live in a bubble and are immune to the rest of Sydney.

Did you ever see the email "Operation Shire Freedom"??? funny stuff

As far as i know just these three were built, but what are their whereabouts today?

- One was kept by Nissan, forwarded to Fred Gibson when he took over, and now owned by Terry Ashwood. Is this also the car which did some engine development work for the Nissan Skyline DR30 Group A Touring Car?

- One was used by Garry Scott in Sports Sedans in 1985, where did it go after that?

- A Bluebird is seen in the 'street car' race at Wanneroo in 1987, the support race for the 1987 ATCC round, blowing alot of smoke prior to the start. It is in the old factory colours, but was it really one?

- Plus i'll tag on my usual bit, what happened to Geoff Portman's rally Bluebird?
The Gibson/Scott car is also in Sydney and should be racing later this year. Not sure about the 3rd car.

I see mention of the bluebird.

Last known owner was one Bruce Peacock (any west australian will remember his little blue mustang that the late Frank brennan bought). Last time I saw it run was in a Classic Rally.

It was a photo of Peter Brock with his 4 door holden, but I am unable to put on pictures for some reason. If someone can help me with this it would be good.

Vanilla Dice has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Open an account at photobucket.com
Upload pics there from your PC
Copy the "IMG" links to here
The pics then pull from the saved ones at photobucket.com

Easy.!

That's his 1987 VL Commodore. The last factory supported Brockmobile. Is that the picture you wanted to post?

If it's the converted VK/VL (paint scheme suggests so - early season shot) then it's the car that inherited the 1987 Bathurst win, became the Lambden Beaurepairs TWR VL and is now owned by the Bowdens.

Speaking of the Bowden's, i was told the other day that they are searching for the ex Bond, ex Johnson, ex Kerry Cox XU.1. Apparently it was last tracked to road car use and was apparently involved in an accident and may have been written off. They are apparently very keen to obtain this car.

That'd be "Old Flexible" would it? Was it also the Brock/Chivas 1973 car? Read "the Unforgiving Minute again over the weekend as I was trying to work out which DJ Torana went where...

Which ex-Bond XU1 was that? Don't the Bowden's already have an HDT XU1?
