Interesting to see what happens regarding the SC driver waving Griffin through to gift him a 30 second + lead on the restart.

SRO can't steward races at all. That's two weeks in a row they've completely ballsed it up.

They've apparently decided they wrongly gained a 26s advantage, and have adjusted the result, putting them second.
That seems pretty much entirely arbitrary. I've seen a few terrible GT stewarding decisions around safety cars over the last couple of years. That's yet another one. |

So they gave them a free 30 second gap, and then when the Ferrari slowed down to cruise to the win, they gave them a penalty that puts them behind the restart position? That's mental.

Having read the post race report, it seems like madness. The crux of the matter seems to be applying the 5 second penalty while the race is going on, something which I don't remember seeing in the past. Pretty much every series which runs a retrospective time penalty applies it at the end of the race, which would have made this situation trivial. You're leading on track = you're the leader, but not necessarily the winner once penalties have been applied.
The matter of contact between the Ferrari and Bentley seems to have been created/inflated post-hoc to provide justification here - nobody seemed to be complaining about it during the race - the Bentley crew never mentioned it in interviews that I saw. From the perspective of the Ferrari crew, they've been penalised for obeying the clerks orders - a ridiculous state of affairs, and something which, if it happened to me while racing, would cause some seriously heated discussion. They need to fix this scenario so it can't happen again, while also making sure that they have sufficient discretion (which I think they probably do anyway, but fluffed it) to deal with future situations where the letter of the law would lead to an absurdity. |

The contact between the Ferrari and the Bentley was being looked into as I know that the team manager of the Bentley team was already up at the CoC argueing about the contact while the safety car was out. |

I watched the race and couldn't see the contact. Is there a video of it? And it just happened to be a penalty that puts it less than a second behind the leader? It's all very messed up and not fair for anyone in any way.

Interesting. It would be interesting to see it, i've gone back through the broadcast but don't think it was shown. Still, a very odd situation. CoC and stewards in general have a really tough job at times, and as someone that races things, they'll always have my respect - but sometimes, like this, things really do look poor from the perspective of the casual observer.

After watching the highlights im surprised that they didn't show the contact, afterall the Ferrari had an onboard camera which the tv production made use of.

Another win for Minshaw and Keen. What happened to the Ginetta GT3s?

Was somewhat warm there today wasn't it - makes a change for Snetterton (Bentley Straight overlooking the infield for me). Couple of good races. Roll on Silverstone in a couple of weeks.

How come the Barwell car got a drive through and not a stop and go for the time amount they lost in their pitstop? Is this new for 2017? I am sure in y
the past if a car was 2 seconds short it got a 2 second stop and go ? Last edited by billy bleach; 30 May 2017 at 09:00. |

With GT3 cars over half a million and LMP3s under half the price, this isn't a surprise. Richard Dean of United Autosports said it was clear that GT3 was boom and bust. It'd had its boom, and on a national level it was about to have its bust.

That's ok, the FIA series continue to flourish. However you have to worry when a UK series for these wonderful cars can't work when glorified banger racing does so well. Depressing!
