Anyway, it's likely (unless there are some last-minute withdrawals like Button's team last year) there are 25+ cars on the grid. A bit shame there's no Aston or McLaren, however six brands is a really good outcome. |

The AMG lineup is confirmed. The surprise is Mikael Grenier at GruppeM.

It is a surprise indeed, don't want to be ignorant but honestly I don't know who he is, never heard of him. Anyway, great to see Buhk back with Mücke, and also great to see Engel back. He should be a strong player. This means Juncandella is out and I don't think he's back in DTM.
From other news, it seems Spengler's return is now unlikely with Esteban Muth being rumoured to race alongside Wittmann at Walkenhors. CONFIRMED Abt - Audi - K. van der Linde Abt - Audi - R. Actually I'm also surprised they dropped Juncadella, who was not bad last year, and it always seemed to me, that DTM suited him better than Engel, and the German is better in endurance racing. Looking at some lap times from the last year, Engel was generally a bit faster than Juncadella, when they shared the same car, and Jules Gounon was faster by quite few tenths than the Spaniard. |

Grenier also tested the ByKolles CLM a few years ago.
Didn't get a seat obviously, but shows he's been keen to try a bit of everything. |

Bortolotti and Ineichen were quite easy to predict, I expect Bortolotti may be a championship contender. I'd rather see someone who already has some DTM experience instead of Deledda, like Muth for example (although he's probably slated for a brand switch) but I'm interested how he fares.

Anyway, he is our Lord and saviour
I don't want to be rude with him, but from last years grid, probably Dev Gore or Esmee would look champion materials compared to Deledda. Yes, I know that he started racing when he was over 18, and is a nice guy (also fast in Lambos on the streets ), but I cannot see him beat anyone in the field. |

He will be last, with some margin. In the short F2 and F3 races he was lapped often. Also he had often a margin like 6 to 7 seconds to the fastest guys.

Great to see Walkenhorst and Schubert with two cars each, I also think a move to the BMW team is a step forward for young Esteban Muth. Not surprised though that Glock is out, Eng should do a good job and I'm happy he's back. Really curious about the cars' liveries and performance. Having an old car should no longer be BMW's excuse.

So 27 cars confirmed, I'd put a question mark over T3, it's understood their entry is still not certain. Also, I'm curious about who the AF Corse duo is, honestly haven't got any ideas. But most of the grid is already confirmed and the quality of the grid is very very high. |

How serious is Porsche taking things? Will those two SSR cars be pay drivers or factory guns allowing them to get a bit closer to the effort Audi, AMG and BMW have put in? Will we see any more worthy Lamborghini seats? I think T3, if they do show up, may well end up running pay drivers again, so Lamborghinis chances of winning will be solely focused on the Grasser cars. And of course who will be the AF Corse guys, I expect those will be two Ferrari PRO's, and probably correlating with why Iron Lynx have yet to announce the drivers in their 2 PRO endurance cars. Wonder if we will see the Red Bull association again? I know Lawson and Cassidy are ruled out, as are probably the rest of the Red Bull F2 drivers, but maybe they send one of their F3 drivers, and Ferrari send a factory driver for the second car. I'd like to see someone like Rovera or Serra. Ferrari's GT factory guns are going to be thinly spread this year between WEC, ELMS, GTWC and potentially DTM, for something like 10 guys |

In the SSR cars will be two factory driver from Porsche. Likely Laurens Vanthoor will drive one.

Yep, I've heard about Vanthoor too.
T3, if they stay, will retain Esmee Hawkey I imagine but who knows who is the second driver. As for AF Corse, Red Bull/Alpha Tauri are said to remain onboard, however, I'd rather see some Ferrari factory drivers than junior Red Bull racers. Cassidy would be a great candidate for me but he's out of question so I can't see two Red Bull drivers in Ferraris. Maybe a combination of a Ferrari GT ace and a RB junior. |

So Audi represented by MULLER, GORE, VAN DER LINDE, RAST, FELLER, & ZUG
Nice range there, I think Rast and VDL are the obvious challengers, expecting to see Muller make some improvements after a poor 2021. Expecting a few surprises from Feller and Zug We all know where Gore will be And now we are only likely 3 teams away from knowing the full grid: SSR, AF Corse and T3 |

Hoped for a stronger no 2 driver at Rosberg but money talks I suppose. Quietly I hoped Luca Engstler will make it to the DTM this year and thought it might be at Rosberg.
Anyway, let's hope Müller will be back to his normal self this year although the field will be even stronger this season. CONFIRMED Abt - Audi - K. van der Linde Abt - Audi - R. Rast Abt - Audi - R. Thinking on the AF Corse driver lineups a little more.
Ferrari are very restricted in who they can provide for the DTM as it has a clash with the WEC when the DTM is at Spa (WEC at Fuji), meaning any of Ferrari's factory guns running in the WEC wouldn't have a decent run at the DTM title. This includes Fuoco, Molina, Pier Guidi, Calado, Nielsen, Rovera, and of course, Nick Cassidy. Daniel Serra is the only guy closely associated with Ferrari who isnt in the WEC this year, except for Davide Rigon. Rigon, is very likely heading up the Iron Lynx effort in GTWC Endurance, which doesnt clash with DTM, as the DTM only clashes with GTWC Sprint this year. Still, I dont see Rigon being a likely choice. Ferrari Driver Academy drivers are also a no if they are in F2 or F3, as the DTM clashes with those series on about three quarters of its race meetings this year. This actually also rules out pretty much all of the Red Bull junior drivers too So all in all, AF Corse have slim pickings this year from Ferrari if they want the chance to win the championship. |
