[QUOTE=SRabbit]I don't think the fireball is the preview - but you may want to have a look at the colouring of it though....

I'm more interested in the orange in the middle of the flame....and maybe some silver for good measure - sound OK?

Read the words around the pretty pictures and you might have found out why

I guess this is their attempt at/poke at the subliminal advertising that Marlboro/Mild Seven/etc have been doing.

I really like the basic bonnet. V8 Supercars look great with no or very sparse livery. I'd like to see the HRT cars with no advertising - the un-decalled splitters you see at the workshop look cool. Though HRTs is one of the more clean, less busy liveries. The LP development cars were very effective in that way, with just "JACK" written on the car.

I think that kind of livery is much more effective than an overcrowded busy one.

I agree rotorfan - my missus occassionally will glance at the tele every now and again when I have the races on and she saw the JACK car one day when i was watching Fujitsu Series and she said 'what car is that? That's the best one I've seen'

'slick' was one word she used and I tend to agree as well...

If they're too busy the sponsors get lost - and isn't the point of the livery in the first place exposure??

And guess what?

Lowndes wins Championship at PI and there's 50 bazillion photos in every website, magazine and book. All with the Vodafone reference on the side of the car.

Ambush marketing at its best!!!!!

Looks to me as if they've only changed the side doors and bonnet- The roof and front spoilet look just like the Betta Electrical car.

Nah- The yellow makes it stand out that little bit more, I like it with the yellow.

SRabbit, do you have any pics of Whincup's car? What does it say on the side?

Neither - Craig is in the new car and Jamie is in his first car ( that he won Clipsal in ) the Bathurst car couldn't be readied in time so it is now a spare car that Roland has said he'd be happy to sell to a collector so long as it stayed 'as is' ....must ring the bank manager today!!!

The main reason they built and debuted a new car for CL is because the team had a contractual agreement with Howard (Development series) to sell a car to his team.

Roland said this about 3 or 4 weeks ago. ( I'd say, JW's car was ear-marked for this)

888 Engineering now have 4 cars ar their disposal:

Chassis 08 built 2004 has been the team spare all year, and I would assume this will go to Howard to complement sister Chassis 07 also built in 2004 and racing as car 27 in the Development series.

Chassis 09 debuted late 2004 has been Car 88 for the majority of the year excluding round 11.

Chassis 10 debuted 2005. Has been car 888 for the majority of the year until round 11. Won Bathurst . Car 88 at round 11 but extensively damaged in the Symmons Plains crash. Now in workshop being repaired.

Chassis 11 debuted Round 11 2006. Is Car 888 for the remaining rounds of the year.

One would assume that Chassis 09 be the team spare for 2007, with Chassis 10 & 11 being cars 88 & 888 for next year unless they plan to introduce Chassis 12 during 2007.

Interesting to not that Briggs/888 built 2 new cars for the start of every year up to 2006.

2003 Chassis 05 & 06. (Chassis 05 is now Car 20 in the main game, Chassis 06 is Car 37 in the development series)

2004 Chassis 07 & 08. (Chassis 07 is Car 27 in the development series, Chassis 08 is the team spare)

2005 Chassis 09 & 10. (Chassis 09 is car 88, Chassis 10 being repaired)

late 2006 Chassis 11. (Car 888)

I thought Mr Rowley wrote in MN that Mr Howard would be debuting chassis #08 as car #37 this weekend in the development series?
