I went 12 years ago for a "round birthday" treat, was considering going again this year but TBH can't face getting up early and travelling! Too much like a work day.
It was OK, but I too would question whether it is twenty quid OK. Sent from my AC2003 using Tapatalk |

I suspect they want to limit the numbers. Didn’t they have to turn people away one year?
There is a local cars and coffee which is free. We’ve not needed to limit the numbers. |

Memories come flooding back each time despite the vast changes to the original site, I can still visualise all the manufacturing facilities, the wing and fuselage assembly lines and the vast flight sheds on the other side of the circuit where the hotel stands now, enormous hangars erected specifically for the VC10 with its high tailplane - they were colloquially known as the Abbey and the Cathedral. |

Thanks again to the pics taken at Brackley by rbs, I had a go to pick up some info about Clan cars. Interesting to learn about their last model, the Clover, hosting an Alfa boxer engine. https://absolutelycars.fr/culture-au...la-sportivite/

Thanks to you, rbs. And as usual, your legends are much appreciated (at least by ignorants like me!). We have a Tornado specialist on the forum, I recall Zef having restaured a Tornado in a recent past (may be not a Tempest).

That Bugatti transporter looks almost as if it's a converted fire truck. |

From the pic posted by E.B (in Normandy), this Commer was supposed to make transport for Bugatti and Lagonda. Nothing to see with our wonderful Club, alas. 2024 subscriptions are open: are you in Mike?

The occasion was in 1979 & we went across to Ernie Knott's in Northants to collect a Gordon-Keeble he also owned. I then drove the Trident back to Norfolk. So far as I am aware, he still owns both cars, amongst others! |

OK, John, you got me curious about this Gordon-Keeble car. Good looking I must admit (is it Iso Rivolta tinted?), from this source it is said it was really affordable: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon-Keeble

I'm off to the Bicester Scramble on Sunday. Garçon of this parish has been involved in the resotoration of a series 1(?) Land rover. Looking forward to seeing it and hearing the story.

LASTS Garage in Woodbridge , Suffolk , was a TVR dealer and bought the rights to the Trident models . They opened a small factory in Ipswich where they built the Trident cars . A friend of mine was an engineer there and he would often turn up at my house when he was out road testing the cars when they were finished . As well as the 4.7 Lt V8 , there was a 7 Ltr which had a 3 speed auto box , [ why ??? ] , and a car which did the 1970 World Cup Rally , [ from memory it had an army motorsport team and did not finish .] Very impressive acceleration but the roadholding on most cars was not that good as I believe they were built on a TRIUMPH TR chassis . That was dragging up a few memories from 50 odd years ago . |

Great memories here, Tel, thanks.
E.B: the turtle badge is awesome, great find, well done. As to the Iso question, it was genuine and not inspired by net-infos. I'll have a go to the link you posted and find this thread more and more interesting. Looking forward to Peter informations about the Tenther involved in the restauration of a 1 Series. Hope it has the "free-wheel"* system the first examples had. *: is it correct for "roue libre" in my mother tongue? |
