Glad they don't to be honest. BoP is hard enough between FWD cars as it is without throwing RWD in the mix as well. Just look at all the grief in BTCC.

Yep, I'm so happy TCR discussions are free of the continuous moaning and ranting about RWD. That alone is worth the loss of BMW already...

It didn't seem to cause a problem in super touring. They just slapped BMW with a 25kg weight penalty and then got on with it.

The same with S2000. I dont remember much arguing until the TDi came along.

Not exactly a beauty, but that wasn't to be expected with the road car it's based on I sure hope they get the reliability issues sorted the current Civic was plagued with.

The front of that new Civic looks pretty amazing. The rear... not so much.

The Peugeot 308 TCR has a 1.6L motor, but it has evolved with guys from Citroen to develop more power.

Nice
But I expected Kristofferson. He dominated STCC races he raced, and he also raced in Golf.

There are other car makers that do make RWD cars other than BMW. Lexus, Mercedes etc. Sure perhaps none of their cars "fit" right now, but in a few years, who knows. To totally shut out RWD seems wrong to me.

But who of them makes a TCR type car that's RWD? MB had FWD with the A and B class cars that are hatches so they have a chassis if desired. The only Lexus hatch I can think of is the CT (Prius with a fancy badge) and that's not really in the TCR. It seems like the chance of a RWD small hatch coming back anywhere in the world, especially in the era of extreme platform sharing, is so slim as to not even be a consideration. When BMW is going to move their 1 series to FWD, that's the sign small and RWD outside of 2 seaters might be over.

And if no one has anything in the pipeline or under consideration the next set of rules will be out before they are produced and things could be changed.

What about Jaguar XE, it's only 20cm longer than Audi RS3, also Giulia will be much better solution for TCR than Giulietta.

They could simply build FWD versions of their cars for TCR. 2 of the 3 cars used in NASCAR Cup series are based on FWD cars, so why not?

TCR uses a homologated road car as a base, so they would need to build a FWD road car first.

Right, but you can rework an AWD-car.

You mean re-work an AWD road car to a FWD race car? I don't think that's an option. It would need to be FIA Group A homologated. You could only use a FWD version of an AWD car if it's homologated as a FWD, which needs a minimum production build.

Either way it's a moot point. As we've already said, how many makes are there that only have a RWD car in a size suitable for TCR, and of those how many would even be interested in building a TCR-spec car? That's already a very small number., now we are asking how many of those also have an AWD model which would be suitable for TCR?
