Very sad day, I only spoke to Mike a few times in the paddock at Snetterton.
I all way enjoyed his posts as he traveled to race meeting around europe He will be greatly missed. |

I didn't know Mike at all, but felt that I'd got to know him a little through Tenths and through the comments on this thread in particular. So sorry to hear that his struggle has ended. Having lost a dear friend and motor racing fan very recently, I know how those of you who knew him well must be feeling. RIP to Mike and condolences to his family and friends.

That is just so sad. I've refrained from making any comment previously but as mere spectator and having met Mike a couple of times at Brands over the years, I'm finding this very hard to take in. Obviously a great competitor and friend to many on here, he was always very approachable and ready to have a chat.
Devastating news, RIP Mike. |

Very sad, sitting here trying to take it in. Years ago he asked my advice (a first, had always been the other way round) about buying a truck as he said he was going to spend the summers driving round Europe and racing. Well, he did that and loved it. RIP Mike, keep on trucking.

I have left this a while.... very numb
So so sad.... I was speaking to Hindy earlier about this and I said... Im fed up with getting older.... because I'm p**ed off with saying goodbye to good people. That man.... this man... was an inspiration to us ALL on how to be, not just in motorsport, but in life in general!. I wish i believed in life after death... because if it were the case.... Mike would make his way to Race Control upstairs... and be greeted by Mr Sears, Mr Smith would be there grinning ...and a whole host of good guys..... and they hopefully will all race in peace. He will be sorely missed, but wont be forgotten. God bless Mike xx |

A wonderful tribute on Mid Week Motorsport to Mike from Hindy, ... and he quoted from Peter Mallet from my Facebook post..
"Indeed he leaves many friends behind, just like when he raced against us. RIP Mike." Fitting and just sums it up x |

I haven't been on here for a while so didn't know he was ill, so was deeply shocked to read of his passing on FB.
I only met Mike a few times but he was always a true gent and a great guy to talk to. I feel like I know him so well through all the great conversations on Tenths. Really don't know what to say. RIP Mike |

His pain has gone but the paddocks will not be the same without him.
Happy memories of a lovely man. |

This popped up as a reminder somewhere else . . .7 years ago. 2013 Spa Classic , Mike was there with the Lairy canary, a few garages up from us with the Cortina we were both entered in the PA day/night saloon races . . . a minor transmission glitch prompted inspection as we had plenty of time . . . .
Anyone who knows old Ford gearboxes knows the circlips can be challenging . . . . the tips of my pliers broke . . . Mike watching over said I've got some that'll do the job . . . and sure enough in the big red Wardrobe at the back of his garage were a gleaming pair of circlip pliers . . . he happily handed them over, and they promptly broke as well Thanks Mike. |

Bloody awful news; such a nice guy. Hope this strikes a chord with some; they may well already be regaling each other with old motor racing tales:-

Just caught up with this terrible news, I find it incredible that Mike regarded me as a friend. A very humbling thought, when he had so many, and to be included when we only met on the odd occasion says volumes about his character. Being a really decent bloke is not easy for most of us, but for Mike it was his entire nature.
I do believe in an after life, so look forward to seeing him again Mike always the winner; |

Somehow, someway, there has to be a Mike Bell Memorial Trophy.

I think that’s a great idea, have to think of what would be an appropriate event for his legacy
