If we can get 20 solid entries, that would be great.

Update:
Latest from the Grapevine has it that Paul Gentilozzi is going all out in trying to get Memo Gidley in Champ Car full-time for next year and PG's recent talks with John Menard may result in either MCT Racing coming over with a new team for Gidley or Rocketsports will run a third car in Menards livery colors. On a related note, we all know that David Besnard will be in a third PKV car (or subbing for Gonzo) at Surfers Paradise, and now there's talk that we might see Andrew Ranger at the Mexico City race either in PKV's car #22 or Walker's car #15... there's also talk of Rafael Martinez being in the same shoes (ie: one of those rides) and Alex Sperafico is also being considered by Walker... btw, Walker's sponsorship for the one-off in Mexico supposedly comes from MasterCard of Mexico... Here's how the line-up scenario for next year looks like now: 1. NEWMAN/HAAS - #1 - Sebastien Bourdais 2. NEWMAN/HAAS - #2 - Cristiano DaMatta 3. NEWMAN/HAAS - #6 - Bruno Junqueira 4. KALKHOVEN - #12 - Jimmy Vasser or Patrick Carpentier 15. KALKHOVEN - #21 - Roberto Gonzalez or Rafael Martinez or Homero Richards 16. GENTILOZZI - #8 - Alex Tagliani 17. The reason the series has primarly good worthy drivers this year is because the subsidization was setup to support drivers rather than teams. I'd like to see this practice continue next year but for new drivers or get behind ladder series drivers like Fogarty, Valiente, Ranger, Dalziel and indeed even Danica. Wouldn't it be great if the OWRS guys lured Danica away from Rahal? Hopefully as the silly season rolls on we'll see this start to happen.

Like Valiante, many of those Atlantic drivers you just mentioned, Snrub, will never get a shot at a ride in ChampCar unless they bring enough money with them.

Dov, you can erase Jacques Villenueve from your list. He signed yesterday with Sauber for 2 years.

Latest from the Grapevine has it that Mario Haberfeld is currently negociating his contract with Walker for next year... also, F3000 champion Vitantonio Liuzzi has told the Italian Autosprint magazine that should he not get a ride in F1 next year (not a test role) then he'll definitely look into Champ Car ?! Dov, kinda doubt that Tagliani will survive at his salary with Gentilozzi.......rumor around that Johnson Controls is out, maybe immediately and certainly for next year. That leaves Gentilozzi with needing pay drivers.

Looks like it is time for a Gentlemen's CLub sponsorship for PG.

With three Canadian drivers, all in the top-5 and one a defending champion, I find it extremely frustrating that Canadian companies are not stepping forward.

Doesn't MCT stand for Menard-Cheever Technologies? Does Eddie Cheever still have any involvement in the project?
I like your style here - whenever a drive rmakes a vague comment linking hismelf to ChampCar, you add him to hafl a dozen teams, even if there are logistical issues such as that team already having a driver signed, or needing a paying driver. |

If you link every driver there is to every team there is, it means whenever any deal happens you can say "just as I predicted"!

Boots, if you want your question answered then you can go over to ChampCarFan.com and ask zerO because all of these line-ups are from his website.

Btw, you guys should remember that the "Silly Season" is supposed to be fun, so imo this thread should not be taken so seriously.

Tomas Enge is listed as a possible driver for Dale Coyne and for Leberle...
He will be driving for Patrick racing in the final two events of the 2004 season in place of Jacques Lazier, and the word on the street is that he will also occupy that seat for 2005.... |

Thanks KB. I didn't think Undera-Cheever would be switching over, but with Liuzzi in the running it seemed possible that they all would with Red Bull money.

I don't think Liuzzi will be in Champ Car.
A lot rests on whether the Jaguar F1 team re-emerges as something else. He's in with a good shout of a drive if Red Bull take over. |
