apparently he needs a certificate from his surgeon and then he needs to be given the OK from a CAMS doctor.
then he needs to qualify the car.. |

If he gets a clearance and then in his stint puts it in the wall, he'll stand condemned as a selfish egotistical dill, just like JWH

Call it an obscure fact, but ... Teo Fabi took pole and won a round of the 1981 Can-Am series at Mosport just four days after having his appendix removed. That day, Fabi drove 240km at an average speed of 188km/h. Compare driving a V8 around Sandown for one stint to the effort required to drive a F5000 around Mosport.
Of course, Fabi did it because he was heavily in the midst of a championship battle. |

Doing the middle stint with Mr Seton is the likely scenario, presuming the medical clearances shall be forthcoming.
Too big a risk I would have thought... the No Baloney Tony-Baby Faced Assassin can rock on without him |

I remember coming home from hospital 3 days after I had my appendix out and hitting a pot hole, and it was th WORST pain ever!
I'm not a Skaife fan, but if he does do it without killing himself, he's a freakin legend! |

Remarking on my previous life as a nurse, it's not impossible....
Athletes and people who are fitter than the average level of fitness can recover quicker, sometimes remarkedly quicker. I point you to Chris Latham of Rugby fame - back within 5-6 months insteadof the 9 projected. In saying that, I also assumed it would be incredibly hard to tell between a belt digging in too hard and an internal bleed in his scenario unless too late. Mark will be the only person who knows whether or not he's ready, but I hope he's REALLY carefull and puts some combine or deressing across the inside of his driving suit to protect his abdomen from the belts. It's late, but get well soon Mark. It's a nasty thing to occur. |

A radio news report this afternoon is saying that he 'may' race tomorrow "as a wildcard entry". Is that in the rules?

Anything seems to be within the rules when WP are concerned.

It is possible to make representations to the officials of the meeting, claiming that dreaded "force majeure" to respectfully request to make the change.
Mr Seton was not uber quick in qualifying... escaped the dreaded bottom 11... but did not progress into the top 10 shootout... while Mr Longhurst is as quick as someone without recent miles can be expected to be. I thought it was interesting that Mr Longhurst claimed to have only got 10 laps in yesterday out of #2's 49 lap complement. Was Mr Skaife using Mr Longhurst as a safety net, just in case? |

Word this morning from a well known poster is that Skaife did not even drive himself to the circuit this morning so it is very unlikely he would drive a race car.

AA reports this week that Mr Crompton, resident pilot of PR2, was also invited to sub for Mr Skaife @ Sandown.... but cited the #7 contract as why he couldnt....
