I didnt think I became fried like a bacon rasher at Easter this year
I came to a similar conclusion to RaceTime, perhaps the AVESCO boys want to force a cancellation so a new consortium trying to get a street event up around Auckland and/or Wellington can take the NZ round for 2004... Is it just me or is AVESCO very rough & aggressive in the execution of discussion surrounding its contractual dealings?? Cant be fun to deal with them.... |

Yes it does seem a little odd to try and force the issue of the dates in NZ. I thought it was strange that the only two dates in the calander still subject to confirmation were Pukekohe and China. There is definately more to it than meets the eye, just not sure who is being the most stubborn. If the issue is resources, ie marshalls, that is easy, train some more or maybe IMG or AVESCO could pay them for the V8 meet?

It begs the question, are there only one set of marshalls in NZ that officiate at all national/international events??

Depends on what level you are talking about. The grass roots officials should be different - as they are here, but the hangers on errrr MSNZ (ala CAMS) will want to be seen sipping their chardonay at both meetings....

That is the whole point there isn't, because they are all volunteers each curcuit has their own. Rally NZ calls on the car clubs and trains them up. I can sort of see the point for budget minded people, a weekend pass for the rally $80 ticket to V8's $90. But in saying that a week of speed would be good. The wife would be pleased that I get it all over at once.

Personally I think it is great, people who come from Overseas for the rally (and there are a lot) may stay on for the V8's if it is marketed right.

Who actually pays for the ChampCars to come to Australia, is it CART or Qld Major Events?
The bosses of OWRS have said when they get to own CART there will be no more handouts to teams and events, they will all have to survive commercially on their own... ... meanwhile at Qld Major Events central, they whinge grumble and moan at the money they lose each year.... It could be very interesting |

Become designated driver for the weekend and thats one of the costs out the door Stay cheap a few k's out from the circuit and reduce the cost. Book early get a cheapie flight and reduce the cost.
The most expensive part out of flight/accomodation/tickets/rentacar is actually the car... |

Yeah but see, if you have on track accomodation you don't need a designated driver GTR, so add that cost back on for a few 1000 peoples
