I would have tried quickly rolling it back down onto the flat and then tried to bump it (easy to be wise with 20/20 hindsight tho)...be that as it may...they started from pit lane and started carving up the field. |

Blacks
Worst case of trying to shift the blame for a drivers mistake I have seen for quite sometime...what if the Marshals had just pushed him off out of the way to let the race start...would NZ have invaded Aust??
What a load of rubbish PS France was consistently the fastest all weekend...they deserved to win (just showing my lack of bias) |

If the marshalls didn't push the NZ car, he wouldn't of even started the race.

There is fottage of the marshalls pushing on the A1 site.
The TV coverage showed the driver out of the car and the drive shafts being worked on. Seems the Aus marshalls will get the "blame" for a drivers mistake because someone bowled underarm in cricket or penilised a kiwi in V8 supercars a few years ago. I'm sure when the marshalls went out to push they all decided to give it a half assed go just because it was the NZ car. Lebanon should be much more angry. When they crashed before qualifying the marshalls should have run out and fixed the car for him, then push started him so he didn't miss out on qualifying. I think France are the only real shot at beating NZ for the championship this year and they are loosing their driver. NZ can and should win the title. I personally hope they do. The Kiwi's on these forums are doing their best to make it hard to like Team NZ |

This series is about what "The Pride of your ........." It is good banter thats all. You will also find that most of the Kiwi's here are here also for the racing no matter who it is. I for one are glad to see Aussie doing better that have done in years gone by. BTW I did like you comment re underarm in cricket or penilised a kiwi in V8 supercars, I take it you are referring to the 5 minute toilet break ? As for the underarm that will never be forgotten PS where are you from???? |

Seen as Jonny Reid is my Brother i thought i would give you motor racing critics some information to process and make up your own informed decision.
a) Jonny stalled he stuffed up he admitted that b) the marshalls pushed him up the hill to the top of the brow by then the truck had arrived, he tried to talk to the race control via the truck but he was not allowed, the clerk of course did not know that he had stalled and thought there was a problem with the car, in which the Truck driver would not tell the clerk of the course this. He repetively asked to be pushed down the hill, they would not. c) he did not get of the car and refused so they lifted him onto the truck with him still in the car. It was a great drive from the rear of the field. The point i would also like to make is the tyres. What is wrong with the cooper tyres look at neel yani he was struggling in practice and worked all night on the car adn still was off the pace in free practice no 3 . Then with no changes bolted on a new set of tyres for qualifying and was very quick. I have thought for some time now that this has been a problem. After seeing the times in the rain i would say the wet compound isnt much better. |

Nice one "blew by u"
So it was simply the Ausy marshals trying to cheat NZ out of a good race result then ? Interesting what you say about the tyres too. I did notice an aweful lot of Durometer testing done by teams. More than normal. Eastern Creek is really hard on rubber too. Most teams were loosing on 4/10ths a lap from tyre wear. Adam Carrol must have had a bad run on them too , he's struggling by his standards. Were Jonny's first set of wets used in the Rookie session ? |

Unless it was the Belgium race director making the call. Good on those Aussie marshalls for following orders.
To the race director what the hell were you thinking Last edited by NAC; 8 Feb 2008 at 20:00. |

the way it sounded on the news was the marshalls told the controller they couldnt restart it, so the director assumed it was broke
what it sounds like is johnny was waiting to be pushed fast enough to restart, and the marshalls were thinking "its not gunna go" not realising that pushing uphill prob wasnt enough to restart it. |

Marshalls" OH YES! the NZ car has stopped!!!" Johnny" Please can you push me??? quickly!!!" Marshalls" why would we want to push you?" Johnny" those damn aussies" Race director" Now Team AUS can beat the kiwis now!" Race director" Great job boys. Go have a nice cold beer" Marshalls" Awesome" |
