Absolutely stunning, including the reg, thank you bludvl! Seeing the rear lights, must be converted from a station wagon aka break in French. Chapron could not imagine a better hearse for the Élysée.

In terms of quirky utes, the bar has been raised. From a nerdy pov that must be based on a Safari / wagon donor, looking at the length and the rear lights etc. Wonder if the visible rears doors actually open for storage etc. Notice it has a Duttons sticker in the rear window. Duttons, now a huge prestige car dealer in Melbourne (Richmond), used to be a Citroën dealer (distributor) back in the day. There showrooms is great place for an automotive perve. @bludvl_x19 those pics need to also be in the Car Spotting thread at tenths (in the Road car area)! Edit: Just notice Gerard beat me to it! |

Agreed, the bar is now really high as you say. Car Spotting and why not Classic Cars Events too.

It was indeed created by Jeff (and his late Father Albie) Dutton as a dealership hack and parts delivery car for their Citroën dealership. Actually this is an update of their second version, built by Duttons to replace the first one, written off when T boned outside their car yard in the ute's early days. The mk 2 version has now been fully restored and upgraded by the current custodian. And yes the rear doors do open to allow (minimal) storage. A full history, original build and timeline of the Citroën DS23 ute with loads more pics here: https://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/f...roen-ds-23-ute |

Interesting happening in our locality the other day. A bus caught fire and burned to a cinder, it was a total loss. I thought diesel vehicles didn't burn? Or maybe it was the mobile phones of all the kids in it that spontaneously combusted because, well because lithium innit.

This'll cheer you all Up
**Important Notice Regarding Anglesey Circuit** Anglesey Circuit will no longer accept Electric Cars on track days be they Hybrid Cars or Pure Electric Cars. We have also put this in the Important Information section before you pay for your day but If you turn up in anything other than a I.C.E. Car you will not be allowed on the track I am afraid. This is a Circuit decision. Regards Dave. Sent from my AC2003 using Tapatalk |

I don't remember since when the lithium batteries have been banned for race cars. Makes sense IMO.

We've had a major conflagration at the world rally cross event at at lydden last year. So this comes as no surprise. Accepting that fires do occur with ICE vehicles, the means of controlling them and extinguishing them is well known and easily deployed. Not entirely sure that a team of amateur Marshals would know what to do with an EV fire. Likewise if an EV stuffs it into the barriers, what controls are needed to remove said EV back to the paddock safely?

Found this about dedicated FE's (Fire Extinguisher): "To put out large lithium-ion battery fires, use a foam extinguisher containing CO2, powder graphite, ABC dry chemical, or sodium carbonate".

Edit: This post was in response to Gerard's post above.
Indeed, but I wonder how many extinguishers you need and what training/protective equipment would you require? One of the warnings I received from the manufaturer, when I had my EV, concerned damage to the underside of the car which, it was suggested, would lead to a high risk of fire. Since the entire floor of the car was batteries it seemed to me that there would be a high exposure to battery damage. Going back to the Lydden to the thing, https://www.kentonline.co.uk/canterb...ectric-290535/ Seems the fire service needed breathing apparatus so this would probably preclude amateur marshals from dealing with EV fires. |

Did not think it was worth starting up new thread as looking on F B most people that went were very disappointed. We went up Wednesday morning with this car we built it up from bare chassis in a bit of a hurry " all got to come apart after show" Its a Russel Alexis Formula Ford and the driver is Rev Simon Butler. " The Racing Reverend" He is also looking at racing at Le mans in 2025.Yes he is good enough. Nice bloke as well. |

If you mean "how many and diffrent types" fully agreed. When I had to train marshals we had a Sicli then ROT engineer with us. After each section he used to tell me on the hush-hush mode that at least one type was missing. So, yes, a matter of specialists.

We had one of our own, albeit a diesel bus, that self conflagrated a couple of months ago. That chose to do it in the middle of the West Gate Bridge (2.5klm long 60 metres high) which effectively is our city exit heading west. Absolute pandemonium ensued as it happened in evening peak hour. Only a handful of people fortunately and no major injuries video https://youtu.be/M4fYAsslrtw |

It is noticeable how the media try to cover up electric vehicle fires . A diesel bus would not burn like that , unless it was full of petrol or similar . And the KINETIC buses , [ which that one was ], are electric . So not quite the truth being told there . Last edited by Peter Mallett; 13 Jan 2024 at 10:02. |

Item in the news . https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/18...-route-journey
Another giant truck load going through the country , like the ones in Suffolk in Oct , [ where the actual pictures came from ]. Cant remember what the roads are like in that area of Wales ,but I would not fancy trying to get that one up some of the hills in that part of the country .At least the 20 MPH limit will not affect it . |
