So 3:15, it's on to the ITV site, to watch the first qualifying of the season. Can't wait. Hoping for a great season

Does anyone have link to a spotters guide?(just trying to save a few quid by avoiding a programme purchase at the gate tomorrow!). BTW who on here is going at what time are you planning to get there? last years opening round was a real bunfight. |

Eurotech and Speedworks both looking very strong in FP1/2. Good pace from Dynamics too. Motorbase had a strange rear subframe failiure just now on Chilton's car in FP2.

Some interesting things in FP2 (not that you can read too much into practice):
Six Hondas in the top seven; Fastest Subaru was 25th; Jelley faster than all the WSR BMWs; Only 2 cars over one second slower than the fastest Like I say, it's only FP, but still interesting! |

A shame for Cammish, but quite a statement of intent for a rookie.

Very strange qualifying session - very few improvements after 15 minutes other than Cammish. Shame it wasn't better but P4 is still very, very impressive.
Still, a deserving pole for Goff. Motorbase look good with Tordoff in P2 and Chilton not far off. Should be a good race tomorrow with Turkington starting P3. Ingram a bit down in P8 compared with previous year's. Collard still hasn't mastered qualifying in 19th. Very close with 30 cars within 1 second. Sutton P18, Plato P29... |

Not sure if BMR are deliberately sandbagging to get a boost increase or if they are genuinely in real trouble at the moment.

Remember how poorly they were performing at Brands Indy last year too though. They clearly have setup issues and possibly performance too.

my money is on Turks or Carmmish winning race 1
for Cammish the problem is Jordan starts behind him and so will very likely lose a place |

Their poor performance is more likely down to their lack of testing in the dry. |

Everybody else stepped up their game and made progress, BMR couldn't afford to develop the car any further, and paid the price today. I feel it will be a lean year.

Some BMR have a new, little-tested Swindon engine and some are using last year’s units, which haven’t been rebuilt and are up on mileage?

It's the same boxer engine just tuned by Swindon rather than Mountune. If it's the reason why they're so slow they need to go back!

Exactly. The Swindon units are different and have little track testing.
The old units are up on mileage so they can’t do many laps. |
