A stupendous dust up in the FJ race was a fitting finale to what has been a superb season for the HSCC.

This picture was taken early in the race, and actually the first 3 appear in the order in which they finished but it does not tell the whole story, since the battle between father, Michael Hibberd (51 - Lotus 27), and son, Andrew (79 - Lotus 22) was very intense, with James Claridge ( 52 - Lola Mk5A) shadowing their every move. For much of the latter half of the race, Hibberd Senior seemed to have the upper hand ...... just, but in a spontaneous and intuitive move on lap 11, Andrew passed both Claridge and his Dad to take the lead, and despite a detemined bid by Michael to recapture the lead, his son held on to take the flag. Less than a second covered the three of them as they crossed the line:-


Although Paul Smeeth (78 - Lotus 22) and Paul Davis (88 - Lotus 20) finished 9th and 10th, the gap between them was much greater than this at the end:-


Andrew Robertson (44 - Crossle 4F) who I think must have had problems, finished 16th, whilst Andrew Taylor (46) took his Britannia to 11th:-


In a rare outing for this car, James Murray finished 6th in his Lola Mk5A:-
