With all this fire ant talk I'm surprised no one has mentioned the bee kingdom going on near the audi hospitality structure. If you are standing in front of the building at the top of the hill looking at the end of the front straight, on of the trees has a nook practically orange because it is covered with bees.

Weather is looking pretty good right now. Still gotta pack everything, but looks like we can bank on snow being out of the question.

Last year the GHP took liquor and beer at the gate under the "no alcohol can be brought into R/A" rule. Best to conceal and be discrete.

That has always been a rule, but I've never been checked. Hope they don't get past my "layer of ice" security scheme for my beers.

David Land has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Will I be able to buy a camping pass at the track or will I have to order it online?

Camping & Parking pass are one and the same. Buy it at the gate.

I think the forecasters know we are watching the forecasts, seems like Wetherbug changes theirs twice a day and moves heavy rain thurs to fri to sat and back. Most of the local guys and weather channel are saying if it rains it will be light showers now.

I don't know, I wouldn't mind a bit of rain during the race!
Really enjoyed seeing racing in the rain at Road America.

In other news, I have finally purchased my cans of Raid Ant Killer!

You need Fire Ant killer, it's a granular. Best to put it on the ground around your campsite when you first arrive. And if you find a mound, a heavy application is recommended. Just sayin'.

Yeah, DON'T spray the fire ants with ant killer. You will tick them off, your best bet is to look for mounds and avoid. If you must, lightly dust with a FIRE ANT bait but don't break the mound open. They feed differently than black or even other red ants so other baits just sit there. If I remember I'll keep the shaker from work in my truck, it works fast and they will come get it for the queen.

I just don't recall anything more than an annoyance from fire ants from sitting in the grass on spectator hill.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm glad I didn't find all that out the hard way!

I live in the Midwest, so I'm not sure if I can get Fire Ant spray here. I might have to buy it when I get down there.

I'm thinking don't kick any you see and you will be fine. I work outside all around Atlanta and have only had fire ant problems once and that was south in Macon and I hit the nest at night with an Airspade so I'm sure I ticked them off pretty good. Just avoid the purple and gold ants, they might be looking for revenge and anyone in Ga could be fair game.

I started working on my gear yesterday. I'm wishing I'd known I was going to Petit before I unpacked from Road America, everything's in a bit of a mess!
