Well, it's been quite a while, but I added two more models to the collection this morning!
I've ordered the Norev Peugeot 905 and, seeing as I did well and somehow managed to bring back some money from my holiday, I also splashed out on the 1954 BBR Ferrari! I'll report back on quality, specifically on the Norev car, when they arrive So this is an up to date list: 1951 Walker/Whitehead - Jaguar C Type - Car no 20 - Exoto (announced - release date unknown 1952 Lang/Riess - Mercedes 300SL W194 - Car no 21 - CMC 1953 Rolt/Hamilton - Jaguar C Type - Car no 18 - Autoart 85387 1954 Gonzalez/Trintignant - Ferrari 375 Plus - Car no 4 - BBR BBR002 1955 Hawthorn/Bueb - Jaguar D Type - Car no 6 - Autoart 85586/Exoto (coming soon) 1956 Flockhart/Sanderson - Jaguar D Type - Car no 4 - Exoto (announced - release date unknown 1959 Shelby/Salvadori - Aston Martin DBR1 - Car no 5 - Exoto (announced - LONG overdue - possibly canned?) 1961 Gendebien/Hill - Ferrari 250TF61 - Car no 10 - Red Line RL005B (announced - release date unknown) 1966 McLaren/Amon/Grossman/Gurney - Ford GT40 - Car no 2 - Universal Hobbies J3019/Exoto 1967 Gurney/Foyt - Ford GT40 - Car no 1 - Exoto RL18058 1969 Ickx/Oliver - Ford GT40- Car no 6 - Universal Hobbies J3008 1970 Attwood/Hermann - Porsche 917 - Car no 23 - Revell/Autoart 80032/Universal Hobbies UH3046/Eagles Race 1971 Marko/Van Lennep - Porsche 917 - Car no 22 - Universal Hobbies/Eagles Race 1977 Ickx/Barth/Haywood - Porsche 936 - Car no 4 - Spark SPA180016 (announced - expected 2007) 1982 Ickx/Bell - Porsche 956 - Car no 1 - Minichamps PG-826901 1983 Schuppan/Haywood/Holbert - Porsche 956 - Car no 3 - Minichamps PM180-836903/Exoto (announced - release date unknown) 1987 Bell/Stuck/Holbert - Porsche 962C - Car no 17 - Autoart 887700 (announced - release date unknown) 1988 Lammers/Dumfries/Wallace - Jaguar XJR9LM - Car no 2 - Exoto GT0104 1989 Mass/Reuter/Dickens - Sauber C9 - Car no 63 - Exoto RLG18196 1991 Wiedler/Herbert/Gachot - Mazda 787B - Car no 55 - Autoart 89144 1992 Warwick/Dalmas/Blundell - Peugeot 905 - Car no 1 - Norev 184770/Spark SPA180011 (announced - expected Spring 2007) 1995 Dalmas/Lehto/Sekiya - McLaren F1 GTR - Car no 59 - UT Models 530151859 1998 McNish/Ortelli/Aiello - Porsche 911 GT1 - Car no 26 - Maisto 1999 Dalmas/Winkelhock/Martini - BMW V12 LMR - Car no 15 - Maisto 38882/Kyosho KY08533A 2000 Biela/Kristensen/Pirro - Audi R8 - Car no 8 - Maisto 3899 2001 Biela/Kristensen/Pirro - Audi R8 - Car no 1 - Maisto 38626 2002 Biela/Kristensen/Pirro - Audi R8 - Car no 1 - Maisto 2003 Capello/Kristensen/Smith - Bentey EXP Speed 8 - Car no 7 - Autoart 80353 2004 Ara/Capello/Kristensen - Team Goh Audi R8 - Car no 5 - Spark S1802 2005 Lehto/Kristensen/Werner - Champion Audi R8 - Car no 3 - Spark S1800 2006 Biela/Pirro/Werner - Audi R10 - Car no 8 - Norev 188340/Spark SPA180008 (announced - expected Spring 2007) The cars in green are those that I currently have, whilst those in blue I do not. Whilst I love that there are more models becoming available I'm frankly a little scared at just how much this is all going to cost!! |

Forget cost, money is there to be spent Craig, not frittered away in some nonsense savings account.

Well, that's lucky, cos the only money I actually have in any bank account is there to pay my tax bill. And they get angry is I spend that on model cars or beer

I have now taken delivery of both the Norev 905 and the BBR Ferrari. The Norev is surprisingly good for the price, I'd put it in a similar quality range as a Universal Hobbies car, whilst the BBR is, as expected, absolutely fantastic quality.

If you're going to Le Mans then you'll get a good price and save the postage costs by picking it up from one of the shops there. If you're very lucky the Spark version may be out by then so that you can compare the two

Well, well, well...
I just visited the Alex Reade site looking to see if they had any of the models to fill the gaps in my collection (my birthday is coming up and my folks wanted to know what to buy me!) and I discovered that they were offering the 1949 Ferrari 166MM winner in 1:18. No details of who it is made by or anything else but, well, I've been naughty again and ordered it anyway! |

Sadly the '49 winner was a one off and apparently sold just a few days ago. I'm gutted to miss out on that one - would have been a fantastic addition and it was only listed at 75 quid. grr
On a more positive note, the first Norev Audi R10s are available. I'm going to wait until I get down to LM next week (holy jesus, that's come round quick) and have a look before I buy. But, my word, those Norevs are cheap. I really hope that the Spark version is out soon too so that I can compare them before deciding. |

Very nice, your modern cars are almost identical to mine, lol, only I have the odd Toyota GT-ONE and Sauber C9.
I see the latest Norev R10 has been released, and looking at the pictures I think I'm going to buy these over the Spark versions. Looking at my Maisto R8's and Spark Champion R8, they look almost identical in the cabinet, infact the Maisto models have a superior fit and finish! By going the Norev route I'll also be able to pick up each example without breaking the bank. Here's a photo of the new Norev RS Spyder:- Last edited by JAG; 12 Jun 2007 at 02:00. |

Glad you like the collection - I'm starting to enjoy it myself as it grows. It's funny how, looking at that photo, I am reminded of the excellent museum at Le Mans... just 18 times smaller!
I think that I agree ref the Norev Audi, but I am waiting to see it in person at the weekend before commiting. The Pug is outstanding value for money and would be pretty reasonable for twice the money. I was speaking to one of the model suppliers a couple of days ago and he was of the belief that the #63 1989 winning Sauber was going to be re-released shortly as a single car - ie not with the ridiculous spare chassis - so I'll be holding out for that. If that doesn't happen, does anyone know of a 'conversion kit' that would allow me to take the (significantly cheaper) #61 or #62 and change the decals? The only car that I am really desperate to get my hands on right now would be the '52 winning Merc. I'm keeping my eyes peeled on eBay, and of course at LM this weekend, but does anyone know anyone who might have that one in stock at a fair price? |

BTW, there's a plain silver C9, no need to buy the race version.
I was looking at the Eagles Race '88 962 on ebay, anyone have one? |

Funnily enough I was looking at that in a catalogue a few minutes ago!
Really tempted by that model, but I just blew this months budget on a chrome Mac. Do all the Spark 1:18's come in display boxes like that? |

You guys need help. Is there a DMCA out there? Your name is Bob, and you're a...
Having said that, the models are seriously neat...and I totally understand the collecting bug (I have too many of too many things)... Fortunately, I have always found the prices of the models as too horrendous to justify...I've got a seriously small number, and all happened to have been given/found-at-insane-prices. It is not good letting myself read threads like this, though...it makes it all a bit tempting... |

That's why you need to look out for UT's and Norevs that can be picked up for £20. Last edited by JAG; 16 Jun 2007 at 23:25. |
