Looks like the Toyotas have one to two seconds per lap on the p2s thus far. They can keep that up all race they will finish well ahead.

There are team orders, in this team sport, they aren't favoring one car over the other just letting the fastest one get an opportunity to build a lead.

Glancing at the timing screen. Seems they do and the Alpine is 0.5s slower than the Toyota on most laps.

Although the fastest laps are much closer.

One exception to the 2s a lap is the United. They are having a strong strong race. Very impressive to have that advantage in that class.

All the LMP2 teams are consistently running 2.5s to 3s slower than there fastest lap now. Somehow they have managed to pick up some sand out on the circuit.

Tyres?

But United about to stop for fuel only.

i was wondering how the heavier P2 cars would be on the tires. I have the same questions for Hypercar as well I suppose.

I don't know what the rule is. Filling the tank over x%? With more than x laps left?

I thought that, but it looks like they still gained a lot. Despite the messing around it still got a big advantage, coming out well ahead of the sister car. So there no opportunity to look at it pragmatically.

And from the commentary it sounds like race control made a big thing about this before the race.

In that link (which is just about GT in 2020, too busy watching to really search for the latest) the time penalty is the time they were short x 4.

The #8 is short on fuel and will have to stop sooner, so maybe there is a natural penalty? Either way, if RC have been strict on this, I'll expect a penalty.

Is it short on fuel? Probably filled by then, but they have to wait the 35s? (I don't know, just guessing).
