The Dinger confirmed as the first driver in the MSR Acura for Daytona 24. Didn't realize he's driven for Shank in 15 Rolex 24s. Damn

Absolutely not a surprise given Dinger's long history with MSR. |

Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson should be considered for Cadillac DPI or Corvette C8R endurance roles. They will certainly be just as good as the regular season drivers after a handful of laps.

Endurance, generally 3rd driver, would not be likely, LM would be tough for Chase in season with Nascar. 4th or 5th driver in a Caddy DPi at Daytona would not surprise me. Jimmie has a couple Daytona starts I believe, I don't know if Chase has.

The NASCAR playoff format should allow a driver to skip a race if they want. Send him to Le Mans for a weekend! Especially if he has a race win already at that point.

Endurance-Info speculates Meyer Shank will not be back in GTD next year and Racers Edge and RealTime Racing could step in to run the NSX's.

Yay? MX-5s back with IMSA and WeatherTech series next season so MX-5s in the morning again next season. Gonna be a tight schedule with them, Porsche Cup, Prototype Challenge, Michelin Pilot Challenge and WeatherTech cars to run. Guess that means we'll have running on Wednesday in 21 again.

JS is underrated IMO. Super nice guy
For a number of reasons I'm excited to see the mx5 integration. |

So its Olivier Pla for MSR
https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/m...cura-dpi-seat/ Got to think we are waiting until post sebring to announce Dane Cameron. So for the #60 Acura, it looks to be Dane, Pla, and AJ Allmendinger. Maybe someone else still. I noticed DPI teams have no qualms about going 4 drivers for the Daytona 24. GTLM's seem to stick to 3. |

Add a GTD car to the field with Alegra returning with AMG GT3.

I never thought it was worth speculating silly season for the Pro-am classes until you hear confirmations such as the Alegra Mercedes. So throw out GTD, LMP2, and LMP3.
However for DPI and GTLM...lets speculate away. Although the discussion seems to be how small will they be. All I see right now for 2021 is this: GTLM #3 Corvette C8R #4 Corvette C8$ #24 BMW M8 #25 BMW M8 DPI #10 Acura Taylor #60 Acura Shank #85 Caddy JDC #5 Caddy JDC Mustang Sampling #31 Caddy Action Express Whelen #55 Mazda Any different opinions or rumors? |

I wonder which cars they are looking at? Or have they already decided?

Contract negotiations for the No. 31 Cadillac DPi-V.R are in a “very good place” according to Action Express Racing team manager Gary Nelson, who expects the team to continue in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year.
The four-time DPi/Prototype championship-winning squad scaled back to a single Cadillac DPi for Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani this year, with initial questions surrounding Whelen’s involvement in the program for 2021. |

In GTD we have the Pfaff Porsche coming back
https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/p...eback-in-2021/ that livery makes the car a fan favorite for sure! No word on drivers but if they can resign Robichon as their am, they will have a competitive car with the potential of a driver placed there by Porsche. |

Yeah, they said they were close last year but couldn't quite make it work. They lost Mustang Sampling and the France family contribution has shrunk to zero so they're in the pro-racing non-factory fun of cash plays. Sadly the ratings for IMSA don't make a lot of companies want to play. I get it but does not mean I like it.

Yeah shame they won’t be there, but then it was never really on their radar anyway

Sounds like Pfaff is going with option 4. Quite sensible. That's what I would do if I ran a GTD team in 2021. |

Some driver rating requirements. Most interesting thing is IMSA smartly got rid of the extra time trial session for P2 nd P3. Keeping just GTD. Other thoughts -I think they should run the extra GTD pro shootout with the GTLM qualifying session at the exact same time. Traffic should not be an issue as you will see some GTD teams sit out that session at each race I'm sure. Especially later in the season as if you are not in contention for a season championship in GTD there is ZERO reason to run in that session. -LMP2 for Laguna Seca should be moved to Mid Ohio to save travel costs. Look at what we got next week just 1 car from that class. -Awaiting the pit and yellow procedures for 2021 still. Fingers crossed that we get Code 60 for stalled car and debris situations. |
