Woolworths

Woolies new venture into hardware includes Lowes, who are Nascar sponsors of the #48 car.

WOOLWORTHS will spend almost $400 million opening the first 12 stores in its joint venture hardware chain, likely to be called Masters.

Three planning applications were submitted last week for what are expected to be the first stores in a national chain that Woolworths and its US hardware partner Lowe's hope will reach 150 within five years and tackle head-on the $6 billion a year Bunnings business owned by Wesfarmers.

I know it's been covered but there is a ute sponsered by Samboy chips and they were giving out free samples at Clipsal.......man i'm glad they brought back Atomic Tomato mmmmmmmmmmmmm........sorry back to my point, maybe this is something that could happen more in the future and on a larger scale. How many times have we heard the saying "last year was just a toe-in-the-water exercise".

And did anyone notice at Clipsal that car with the slogan "Samboy, the flavour really HITS you!" was driven by Paul Morris

cavvy - Lowes may be involved but only financially - it won't be branded as such over here.

As for the regime being in place - think like Wesfarmers - would need a complete board change to get past the starting gate for both companies - and that's unlikely to happen fiven the success both companies currently have. Of course if things go bad - best of British getting any sponsorship out of them then!

Cant argue BUT Lowes involvement is a door a very well researched/executed proposal may get a hearing.

Hard to see how a team sponsorship would represent value out of their advertising budget versus FTA.

Not sure boards are the culprits, more an easy excuse.
