The GreenGT H2 has finally turned a wheel on an undisclosed (small) circuit in Switzerland and at Magny Cours according to Auto Hebdo.

Makes you wonder how they ever planned to race in 2012, the date of their original entry.
Seems you really need a manufacturer or some serious backing to make G56 work. Nissan keeping the concept afloat at the moment. It's never going to be a class where you'll get reserves due to the work involved, working to a deadline and the lack of opportunities to run the car. |

In my opinion this is to bad for the ACO, they should have, and in the future they must have, an alternative car for the 56th garage. The next year car is from Nissan right? There won´t be a problem then. As far for 2015 there were rumors that Peugeot will bring a car... let´hope they bring a "56th" car in 2015 and a proper LMP 1 in 2016 when they have more profit in road cars...

You can't really have a reserve entry for Garage 56. All the cars entered are going to be incredibly complex pieces of kits which are right on the boundaries of their development curve to get ready in just on year for Le Mans anyway....who is going to do the necessary development work on a whim that someone else would drop out?

Very sad about this, although unsurprised. Somehow a few laps for the weird and wonderful Green GT does more for me than the prospect of a full race from a decent Porsche GT.
I like the concept of Garage 56 and having somewhere for the innovative to come and have a go has real appeal. I'm a little surprised that Nissan, having invested so much in it last year and obviously with their commitment for next year, didn't somehow in the background give tacit support ensure the Green GT at least showed up to do a few laps - which would have reinforced the principle behind Garage 56 and built things towards next year. |
