To me i think we need a blanket rule. cut the corner back of the grid. which is what would happen in a non shoot out session

Sorry Pecky but this is another one of these stupid, obtuse discussions that you seem to want to have with everyone from time to time. I'll try (once more) to make this really easy for you - I'm typing R-E-A-L slow so hope that helps.

In this case, Fabs was penalised for cheating - shortening the track to gain a competitive advantage beyond the limit that is accepted by the powers that be.

Craig made a mistake, ran off the track and screwed his lap - he was not trying to gain an advantage by going off the track, nor did breach any guidelines or rules nor did he cheat by doing so plus it sure as hell didn't look deliberate (why would anyone deliberately screw their Q lap anyway?). If he'd run (for example) straight ahead through t5, kept the boot in and recorded an ultra fast lap due to cheating, he too would have been penalised.

The two situations are utterly, completely different and it amazes me that you seem to think that they have any similarity at all. Give me strength!! Sorry to go at you a bit but fair dinkum!

Some great racing, good to see Frosty have a big dive (even if it didn't come off)... With the cars all so close and no one really dominating maybe it's time to think about a points structure that favours the brave?

Skaife was urging MW to have a go as most people would have wanted whether it be from a Ford fans view or purely as great entertainment. MW did have a go to his credit, but made a mistake which Skaife and everybody conceded was his fault which had to be pointed out by Skaife as that is his job.
Skaife then praised JW for a great drive and winning the race.
Did I miss the bias part ?

He should have settled for 2nd, got a swag of points and moved up in the C'ship points.

Instead he came 13th and went back a one or two spots in the points.

Why the inconsistent penalties for what seems the same offence?

And fines are useless if they keep suspending the bulk of them..

Yes it's a high pressure environment, however the HRT guy didn't do himself or HRT any good with his response to Larko's question regarding the Courtney/ SVG incident.

On the V8SC website they're a bit clearer on why the numbers were picked:

Looking at the fuel fill issue with DJR, that is a safety issue, yet the team got the equivalent of a slap

The thing will be that the cameras are one of the cornerstone items in regard to judicial process etc so a solid penalty is in place to deter teams from interfering with the cameras. It's similar in a smaller way to the big penalties for testing and tyre breaches.

The fuel fill issue is unclear - may not have been unsafe at all for all we know. I'm assuming that they refuelled the car in pit lane & presumably used churns etc to do it so not necessarily a safety issue but def a regulation breach.

Good result for Wilbur - stayed out of trouble, showed both Mr Winterbottom and Mr Whincup how to pass another car without contact and brought home Ford's first win for the year. Good stuff - plenty going on in that race, no doubt a about it.

I think Whincups bump in the rear to move frosty out of the way is not the same as a lunge done the inside of another driver...lunges etc have a lot to to with visibility and the ability of the lunging driver to pull the car up to avoid contact, versus the driver of the car being passed leaving racing room once they know the move is on.
Frosty yesterday took an opportunity to lunge and it didn't come off, stuffing his own race. Whincup hits frosty in the rear, moving him out of the way then taking the position. I'd suggest if he didn't 'make a mistake' and screw his own race there would have been a penalty after the race against him.
Will Davos pass on coulthard was clean and likewise coulthard left racing room.
I'm pleased there has been a bit of spice in the racing anyway...and variety of winners. Will also take the current bragging rights that a ford in atop the tree too...however long that lasts!
