I am a broadcast commentator myself, and Martin Haven is one of the guys I try to learn from. He is a nice guy as well

Dirk Adorf is good I am told, he drives a mean maschine at the Ring as well. Must check him out

I feel bad for James, N-Technology could do with a victory. But that was not in the cards, after the oil that caught Farfus as well..

Well

Couldn't agree more.

This title must put Yvan in a rare league now I think. One of a few drivers to win both the BTCC and WTCC titles. The only other one I can think of is Giovanardi.

But of course I will endevour to research more.

Following on from my post above I have done the bit of research and whilst it was actually under ETCC format and not any of the seasons it was the WTCC it was a) for actually for two years (2000 and 2002) he wasn't the only one. Tarquini was the last non-brit to win it having won it in 2003.

SEATFreak, as I remember, Gio won it, when it still was ETCC, so you should rather look between 1987 WTCC winners
Edit: Ravaglia (Roberto?) won WTCC 1987, and none of Ravaglias won BTCC. Links:

Great racing, I really liked Huff's move around Andy, despite it didn't work. Then his defence against Farfus (?) after Lisboa 2 or 3 laps later. The same did Farfus against some Seat. I saw both guys going sraight into wall . And carnage in race two was shame, Thommo deserved win!
It was worth getting up so early

I was lucky to hear english commentary, cheers Martin Heaven and John Cleland! All of you complaining for your national broadcast, didn't hear Polish guy :P

Hmmm I don't think Larini deserved the criticism from John Cleland...that was very close on the jump start - a nano second later and it'd have been OK. May have looked different from an overhead shot though.

Very chaotic Race 2, where did Thompson stuff the car into the wall, what caused Farfus to lose his wheel ? And Tarquini was lucky to keep that car on all fours..

I find it hard to believe that those lights actually went off like it was shown. If so, all but Larini were very much asleep.

Although it wasn't clear from the footage I assumed Farfus had tagged the wall which ripped the wheel off. From reading some of the reports it could be that the wheel came off first as a result of the damage caused when he hit Thompson. Again not shown on the coverage but it seems that Farfus got alongside Thompson, the two made contact which is what sent Thommo off.

from the reports Farfus hit Thompson but carried on and then wheel came off. Felt sorry for Tarquini who then hit the wheel.
