Day one on track at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is complete! We completed 55 laps in the the hour and a half test session, landing in third place with a best time of 1:24.191. We're really happy with the progress from last year, and hope to dial in on a good set up tomorrow.
Wolf Henzler, @Wolf_Henzler We had a good session today and ended up 3rd in the GT class. Bryan did a long run and did good, consistent lap times. It was very cold today and I guess everybody is having a grip problem. We know Laguna is not high grip level track, and because it was so cold, it was just missing a little bit today. Maybe tomorrow when we do more laps and there are more cars on the track we will get more grip. Of course we will work on the setup and adjust more for tomorrow. Bryan Sellers, @BryanSellers We have a pretty good start to the weekend. It’s a long day sitting and waiting to go on track for an hour and a half, but it was good. We had some new stuff on the tire aspect to test and try today, which is very important. We were able to get that accomplished and run some pretty good lap times for a pretty long amount of time. Things are pretty encouraging. Certainly, we still feel like we have a long way to go to get to where we need to be to get to where the car is raceable. But we rolled off the truck better than we have the last couple years here. we just keep moving forward. |

I was wondering why everything but the P1 times seemed a little slow.

I was told by Patrick that even though Joe Foster is listed on the car's roof, that he won't in fact be driving as there is no need for three drivers in a four hour race, particularly when you have to take into consideration minimum driving times!

Hi wveryone. Kelly updating for John. He's in between meetings and asked me to do a post for you:
"The car wasn’t perfect and it been two months since I’ve been in it. Being tough to drive, I struggled more than I should have. I think we’ve got a good direction and I’m driving a full session tomorrow morning and should have time to dust off the cobwebs and get used to the breaking. " |

Maybe I'm remembering this incorrectly, but I think someone from SRT made mention that the Vipers are very good with bumps. This would definitely explain their relative pace at Sebring and Long Beach. Coupled with having not raced at Laguna before...

Just a reminder to everyone that Qualifying starts in about 5 hours. So there is still time if you plan on entering the Fantasy Racing Challenge this round.

Odd GT running order for practice. The Vipers occupy the last 2 positions and the CORE #06 Porsche set the fastest time. I think the Vipers are sandbagging a bit, though. One second a lap still isn't that much... after 10 laps, that's only 10 seconds behind, probably just the amount of time it took you to read up to here.
It just shows you how close the field is, again, at least in GT. |

Well that was a nice few minutes of quali. I'll have to keep that mind for next time.
Congrats to Rebellion and also to Risi. Hope they both win tomorrow . Cant wait for the race on such a wonderful track. |

We qualified P8 in the GT class for tomorrow's race. We were expecting be a bit quicker than where we ended up in qualifying, but we had to save our tires a little bit. I think we’ve made a lot of progress from where the car was yesterday. We weren’t too pleased with the qualifying result, but it’s not our ultimate pace for the race. We should be better tomorrow.
