I have asked this before but I still haven't got any kind of answear.
I remember it from when S2000 was first announced but have never seen it in writing. Peter Briggs from Edenbridge was on here a couple of years ago and was adamant about it. I assume he'd seen a more detailed version of the regs than what is available on the www.

E46 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Autopista magazine today:

Current Alfa Romeo 156s will be in 2006 with one or two semifactory teams, Nordauto and AF Corse. Nordauto could have three cars, with AF Corse having two (and Mika Salo like driver, he has contract with them).
Not bad at all if it happens.

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
AFAIK Salo is free of his conract with AF Corse, he is now doing rallies in his Mitsu. Lancer.

And Giovanardi has signed for VX Racing in the BTCC, so will take no part in the WTCC in 2006.

Is this confirmed?

And Nordauto is no longer called Nordauto but N.Technology.
So conclusion: I (or we?) don't believe this story.

Also, isn't AF Corse the motorsport department of Maserati? So it's not very logical if Alfa official quits WTCC but enters semi-factory cars by their official factory motorsport departments N.Technology and AF Corse.

Ok, so I'll make you even more confused. Rumour from one of Alfa Romeo forums: they will run a GT program for Brera in 2007. Car will be bulid on Brera GTA (with Maserati V8 engine). For me it makes more sense to make a GT from Brera, rather then S 2000.

mystery racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What about Eoin Murray winning the use of a 156 S2000 Alfa to use in 2006 after taking the 147 Cup? Will he be racing in the WTCC or BTCC? Anyone know?

N.Technology (Chivasso) and it's touring car dpt. from Cremona > AutoDelta= Alfa Romeo Racing Team in 2005 are/were the official representatives in WTCC.

So the earlier reply to Fire's question isn't actually true.
"Is confirmed ? Yes" and "Should be confirmed within the next few days" are not the same thing.

Italiaracing's article said that the Brera could be the next Alfa car for the WTCC. However it won't debut until summer. This because the 159 is too much heavy and solid. But it sounds very strange...it would be a better choice the 147, because a SP version already exists...
On Sportautomoto is reported that Giovanardi has already tested a Vauxhall at Pembrey and it seems he will be in BTCC quite surely.
For the WTCC there is some interest from CiBiEmme in running a pair of Focus in order to help Hotfiel with the development.
And maybe Adrian VÃ*lles could replace Garcia at Italy-Spain.

I think you are right so it makes no sense to develop a racing version of the 147.

Sportautomoto says that Alfa could enter in '06 with two or three cars in a semi official way; the possibilities are: Nordauto, AF Corse or DB Racing. As drivers there are the names of Farfus, Melo and even Giovanardi, only for 7 rounds (when there isn't the BTCC). The reason is because Alfa had signed a 3 years promotion contract with the other manufacturers.
