Endurance-Info are reporting that Mike Lancaster, Managing Director of AER, has confirmed that the Lotus P1/01 AER had a "fruitful two-day testing" at Monteblanco in Spain and that the AER engine did run without any issue. All systems have been "tested and checked according to the planed schedule":

Holzer and Kaffer testing hotlaps on Tuesday and Wednesday, Bouchut longruns on Thursday.
Albers was in Silverstone and Rossiter in Japan, and will test the next test at the end of this month. |

Kaffer? That guy must be sick of racing at this point. From an empty season to running all the enduros + picking up a full season ride in a GTE and then testing a yet to be raced P1 car. Surely Kaffer won't race the Lotus at CoTa?

Depends whether it turns up I suppose. And whether it can do six hours. It's a new car after all.

With another test planned for the coming weeks, they should hopefully have some updates on their progress. Driver quotes will be interesting.

Seems promising, I'll be stunned if their outright speed could match the R-one

So long as they are not the Mazdas of WEC, I will be thrilled just to see the Lotus car on track.

Rebellion should have a high-downforce package so hopefully the battle is good.

You know Mazda really isn't doing themselves any good with the factory name in the header... yeah sure Lolas can be rebranded as Mazdas, whatever, but they should just call the team Speedsource and save the company name.

Seems like the recuperation of Lotus as a brand and some other factors are really starting to make a solid project here. That is great
