the director is Louis-Pascal Couvelaire...

Besson is, with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, the producer with their company Europa Corp.

If you really want to see and read about LM, probably more than in the movie, you'll to see the making-of, read the book, and for french-based people go to your next McDonalds and read their free magazine called "Comme Ca" (I'm not sure of this title anyway) with a special issue on MV.

Gilles, what did you think of the movie ?

Sorry for McD, it's not my favourite place to have a meal

And yes, the making-off is certainly more interresting. I thought the images were nice, though, too bad for the movie.

Sorry to ask, but is this only in PAL? I'm hoping to visit Europe this upcoming summer and was wondering if it would be possible to buy a DVD of it in Europe to play back here in the USA. Specifially France, Italy, and Spain are the countries.

With a Coca-Corton Charlemagne ! (FG, we had a 97 Chateau Larose Perganson yesterday that was not bad !) , Huh, sorry for the off topic conversation

I just wanted to add to my comments about the movie that I still thank Mr Besson for having doing it, due to the two new stands and two more concurrents we have now thanks of this movie ; so roll on Michel Vaillant !

Strange how some of my posts are turning to wine debates, it's the same for a 'rugby' subject in "Parc Fermé" !

You want nice and authentic shootings of motor racing ?

Just look MV .... Yes Michel Vaillant !!!!

I'm not totally insane... I'm just speaking of "Michel Vaillant" the TV serie broadcast in the early/mid 60's.

All the cars are real, MV don't win all the race, He didn't ever win Le Mans !!!

But most of cars were shoot durung real races and a lot of pilots and car moguls appeared along the only 13 episodes: Henri Grandsire (It's MV), Jose Rosinski, Stirling Moss (just an appearance), Amédée Gordini, Enzo Ferrari himself, Jo Schlesser, Bob Bondurant, etc...

A must-see, unfortunately only available in french and in Zone 2-DVD

Gilles is right.

BTW, Gilles, did you see the movie this week-end ? And have you a better opinion to give than mine ? Bernard already improved the report, with better words, but I hope you did appreciate it too, I am not proud afterwards to have post a so harsh opinion...

Fab, I think your opinion is the good one for someone seeing it only as a Le Mans Fan. It just doesn't have to be seen that way to appreciate it a bit.
I'm planing to see it again tomorrow, and this time I'll try to forget everything I know about Le Mans

The good approach, definitely ; I was not "receptive" enough to watch it that way ; I have to precise that we're entering now the dreadfull period of the year, not any race of any sort, no news, no nothing. I'll be depressed and negative 'till at least Daytona now !

Right sorry to drag this out of the depths, but I bought the double DVD edition in the summer - watched it recently and realised it is so incredibly well shot, the cinematography is incredible, the sound track is very strong (earlier comments about dodgy english dialogue are invalid - Archive ARE english!), the plot is as good as a mass market film gets, and the whole thing is very entertaining.

The makers of this film could teach a lot of lessons to people who think speed tribe is the be all and end all of film making. Don't expect a documentary on Le Mans - that ain't what it is - its a comic book tale thats very well done.

I'd rank this film up with Le Mans, above Grand prix even, and will ignore any comparison to driven - which is perhaps the worst film ever made.

The sound, shooting and casting are spot on. I highly reccomend it. What do I know about films - I used to review them for magazines... this would be a must have for my collection if it wasn't already in there.
