That will make interesting viewing, 42 cars rushing at 40kph in pit lane, hope the guy on pole has a fast team mate, it will be a long time blending if he doesn't.

Ahh, some humour again, good to see! I believe Mr Subota-Racing himself is on record as stating "we'll build 'em, they'll buy 'em" or words to that effect, with 20 as the target. Does 50% still warrant as a pass in all-things-motorsport?

Sorry I was actually referring to competitor entry fees, which I hear have diminished entry numbers somewhat compared to initial expressions of interest, but those closer to this could confirm.

But at $189 per person for a 3 day spectator pass is getting up there too I would have thought i.e. the thick end of $400 for two people for the weekend, plus accommodation etc.

Question One, Do all the runners cover the same distance or do they all start from the one point and run varying distances to their car?

Question Two, Do they run behind of or in front of the cars?

WOW!!!! Now that is expensive. Crazy how if you do the 3 hour you are forced to purchase a marquee at $400. Whats wrong with using an Ezi Up. They cost only $300 or so maximum, and its yours to keep.

$760 seems a little too much as well. I know it costs support classes around $400 to race at SuperTourer meets, and the going rate for club racing around NZ for a 2 day meet is about $200.

Without the Marquee it would be acceptable - about $1000 per round.

Is this just for Highlands, were the other rounds cheaper??

Not sure on the 3hr
but to enter the other 3 1hr races combined
was less than the one highlands entry fee,

so the fee is over triple the other rounds entry fees.

Wow, that makes SIERDC pretty affordable I must say!!

What track time do you get? is it practice, 20min qually and then the race? Or do you pay an extra $100 or so for testing on the friday?

Still, can't have deterred too many from doing the one hour, they have had to set a grid limit of 50 cars.

More on the pit lane 'Le Mans' start, taken from Stuff.

"Before the 101, spectators will get a 20-minute grid walk to stroll among these cars and the others in the field before they are angle-parked in front of the garages in start order.

"Each car has a numbered orange ribbon attached to the rear, so with the starting driver already safely harnessed in the car, all co-drivers form up in the same order on the other side of pit lane, about 250 metres away. Each team also has a car controller positioned safely to watch for their co-driver to hold up the ribbon and then release the car.

"At the start, each co-driver sprints to the back of the stationary car, holds their ribbon aloft for the car controller to see who'll be watching for other cars before they signal their driver to depart. Normal pit lane rules apply so speed is limited to 40 kmh and the starting driver will only accelerate to racing speeds once they've exited pit lane."

Race conditions include two compulsory pit stops."

Jeez, 250m is actually a fair distance to run, assuming they have all the gear on etc.

Are we talking a sprint or a jog here? I imagine it will be the former

Just thinking about it, 250m seems a fair distance. Still a bit confused to where they actually start from.

Maybe its from the pit lane entry?

For those who haven't seen it, here's a quick vid of set up day from Highlands Park. Some pretty neat videography in there.

Back to ticket prices - "The grid for the Highlands 101 race on Sunday will be made up of the fastest 42 cars over the weekend,Organisers predict more than 10,000 people will watch the racing."

Well, obviously 10,000 thought it was worth the $80 odd per day!

I didn't think there were 10,000 people in the south island...

Maybe they meant "watch" as opposed to "attend"...

Well to me it sounds like they are expecting a crowd of 10,000 for the 101 race, on Sunday. Depends how you read it I guess, but I do think that its a little wishful of them.

Could be them employing the V8SC tactic of counting everyone who's purchased a three-day pass as three people.

And remember each entrant for the 3hr gets 8 three day passes, so with 39 competitors thats already 936 people through the gate

Having had free (sic) passes galore over many years as a driver, I don't think I have ever used them all, even at higher profile meetings such as the Nissan Mobil 500!

Also I do know from a low key race meeting I ran in 2009, we allowed each driver to print out as many guest passes as they wanted (zero postage costs!) and as long as it had their race number on for tracking purposes, guests were allowed in. Whist I admit it wasn't the attraction of a high profile meeting, you'd be amazed how few people use their total allocation.

NZ seems very quiet on validated crowd figurers at sports events unlike the UK Soccer, where even the lowest league match has the attendance figures published, as entry is always via turnstiles.

There have been totally unstubstantiated claims of crowd attendances at Hampton Downs, from people claiming that apartment owners adverseley affected entry figures, so I'd treat any crowd claims as wild guesses without some form of proof.

We'll watch the TV shots closely to see what we think, but I hope the meeting is a huge success as the cars running appear to be far more interesting than the Tier 1 meetings.

Not sure where you can find results, if you are on Facebook normally SIERDC are pretty good at updating their page.
