You're referencing two different agreements here. The 1997 arrangement did replace the earlier TEGA agreement. The article you quote is referring to CAMS agreement with AMSC to be the commercial arm of CAMS. Two completely different agreements and organisations.

Yes I am (them or their tech people) - but not on their own, they had input from a range of sources but TEGA were the core group who put it all together.

The article is only referring to the one topic, CAMS wanting to take back control of the series, and specifically the ending of a 5-year deal is highlighted in the story as the main reason for this action.

If it was a general CAMS/AMSC agreement not related to the new IMG/TEGA/AMSC 1997 deal, why was it included in the story?

TEGA did not exist as an entity until late-1993.

The group of entrants was known as "Touring Cars International" and was not formed into a proper structure until after the 1993 ATCC (at the encouragement of CAMS), and after that the organisation was named TEGA.

The official press clippings from the announcement of the 1993 rules shows a press conference involving CAMS, Shell and Channel 7. No mention of the entrants group.

John Lindell does mention in quotes that the entrants group was involved in the discussion and that their cost cutting demands are what drove the final specs, but certainly not that they were the core group.

How could they be a core group in the rules when TEGA member Fred Gibson claimed at the start of 1994 that no one other than Ford, the Ford teams and CAMS had seen the new Falcon aero kits when they appeared for the first race meeting of the year?
