Well lets hope Dave gets his camping tickets sorted out for you, you will find quite a few changes since you last went but same old faces and next year will finally see a full grid for the top class. The trip down from the uk is a big part of the "le mans experience" The sight of alsorts of classic cars/ modern sports cars/vans all heading down builds the excitement, arriving at the campsite and meeting everyone the first evening plus seeing familiar sites means you are guaranteed to have a great time

I'm assuming (yeah I know what happens when you do that) David will have planned for camping pitch and ferry crossings. I'd like to think I've made his Sebring visits relatively seamless, now the pressure is on for him!
I'm definitely looking forward to the pilgrimage from the UK. Also excited that David is as big a fan as I of the cooked and not so cooked meats that France provides. Can't wait to hop on the tram and head into town for some of my favorite restaurants and cafes. |

Dave is very reliable as long as he is not in close proximity to beer, luckily there will be a shortage of beer at le mans next year
see you in just over 10 months |

Hey all - we'll be traveling from the states to Le Mans for the first time in 2023. I read the "first timers" thread but as I am coming from the states, I wondered if anyone has any suggestions on using a travel agency or have details they'd like to share.
I have looked at the travel destinations website (https://lemansrace.com/motorsport-ev...mans-24-hours/) as they have some packages which cover lodging (tents, "glamping" which I didn't realize was a word, and something like indoor container storage sleeping arrangements) and tickets plus options to add on other ameneties but i'm flying blind here. |

I've used the flexotel (containers) and they are very good but expensive. This year I went to Porsche Curves camping and no complaints except there is no electric hookup. I'm told the glamping is good but again very expensive. They do all the legwork including ferries/rail travel, but you must ensure you have the correct visas etc. Next year I plan to book Houx and tickets via the ACO. Hope this helps. |

Maybe in future years if I travel by myself camping is more my speed but sounds like the wife may be happier. Seems pretty straight forward with them so I'll reach out and start there. Can't thank you enough. |

Just for the sake of balance (admitting that I do have a connection - admittedly fairly small) I'll mention 1st Tickets. Brian and Lauren will no doubt have various packages available which you may like to check out when they are available. They not only sell tickets but also run private campsites at the circuit. I've known Brian for many years now and have always found him and his company very good to deal with.

Yes indeed. I was just confirming Mogwai's understanding of the company.

For first timers travelling from outside the drivable area(france holland uk etc) then an organised package is a good starter, however they are as stated expensive the international camp run by a member on here is good if you are ok with camping and also means you will have a group who know all there is to know about le mans and are very happy to share that knowledge and guide you around.

My wife is an active backpacker but since the Flexotel options were all booked, I opted for glamping. It adds a little "look-it's-fancy-camping-and-not-just-about-the-race-for-me-see-it-can-be-nice-at-races" Our trip is bookended with things that are more for her but if I can get back in 2024 I'll look at other more austere options. Just looked at 1st tickets and you can pretty much tailor a package to suit your needs. I've already got my crossing booked so may go to them for a pitch at Houx since that's the only one officially listed as with electric hook up.

That's great they are offering that sort of package. Means less worry and hassle

Just been reading that ETIAS e-visa nonsense us Brits need has been pushed back by six months to November 2023.
So Le Mans will be 6 quid cheaper next year - https://www.independent.co.uk/travel...-b2137089.html |

Time to check your ACO account still works with your password, clear the diary for the morning ... no, the day and start praying it all goes smoothly on the day.
