If I was writing a book, I'd make sure any car I owned was fully covered. As the chassis number of Rouveyran's car isn't mentioned in La Storia, I'm betting Rouveyran had T00296.

Another Snippet!

From the same Autosport issue (26/02/70) there was a small news item about Max Bonin who had bought "the ex-Ron Harris/Patrick Champin F2 Tecno for F3" in 1970.

Good work Steve!

Patrick Champin drove a MRE entered Tecno in F3 in 1969 so this must be one of the ex-Harris F2 cars. Bonnin (not Bonin) ran the Tecno in F3 in 1970 and it then passed to Dominique Martin for French hillclimbs in 1971.

We still don't know whether this was T00288, T00290 or T00296 but a picture is definitely beginning to emerge.

tecno chassis

hi
concerning the list of chassis Tecno i want to explain my work. During last year i visit the Pederzani house in Bologna where are the Certificati di Origine delivered by CSAI to Tecno.
In some of this documents is writing with a pen by Pederzani the name of drivers or Teams
wich the cars are sold. For The chassis F2 288/290/296 the name is Ron Harris for 1968 season including Temporada, and after in 1969 some F2 coming to Tecno or Ron Harris
are sold in France for Hillclimb. One is sure drive by Patrick Champin converted in F3 but he dont remenber the number. The chassis 288 is to me from 1992 coming by France, the others i dont know existence. When i list the chassis in my book i have limited the story
in the year of Tecno activity (last year 1971) for to be out of speculation or mistake of
successive life at the present days. Now is possible to improve this work if we have serious
arguments.any help is bienvenue. I can in the next time to have a Internet space where people interesting can submit any notice
thankyou beppe bianchini

Hi Beppe

Maybe that Internet space is right here. This thread is ideal for discussing these cars.

Do you know who owned 288 between Ron Harris and 1992? Could it have been Rouveyran's car? Or maybe Yves Martin's?

As I am a Tecno newbie here I dont know if I am repeating what you guys already know. As often, I could be miles behind, so forgive these two posts if that's the case.
Simon where are you, you had a very interesting story about this car. (new resolution on my part not to tell some else's story and then get it wrong).

Tecno FP

hi Andrews
concerning cars Tecno made in France the name FP is Fabre (driver TecnoKart and maker Tecno Formula France) and Pederzani ( Tecno owner in Bologna). The right identification
number is 100. All these informations are realised in a conversations with Msr Michel Fabre
in Paris two years ago. The F.France become F.Renault in 1971. After this period some Tecno
F.France are tranformed in F.3 for sale (not serious) and now is difficult to know if are still
existing genuine F.France.(12 cars are made) : Concernig FB normally was used in Tecno for cars sold in USA for American series.

I have received this from Daniel Pyett:

Quote:
i was wondering whether you could point me in the right direction with tracing the history of my Tecno F2.

I have been rebuilding the car for the last three years, and hope to roll it out at Donington next month for its first exercise in a very long time.

From what i can gather it is a 1968 chassis with the following stamped on the right front suspension mounting; looks like 088 M or WRC.

I bought the car in Bordeaux in 2004 as a pile of bits from Daniel Jaladon who provided a rather vague provenance. The only bits i can be sure about is that he bought the car from Willy Widar in 1999 who bought it from Frederic Marquet/Christian Hollinger the year before.

I think your fellow contributor Philippe Demeyer may have known the car as i have a copy of an old e-mail from him to Monsieur Jaladon seeming to allude to the car as a known entity.

Any information or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

This is not correct. Marquet bought a very scruffy Tecno bare chassis from W Widar together with fuel tanks. That chassis had been lying in WW's cellar for many years. The origin of the chassis is unknow but it was NOT a Formula 2 chassis. The chassis had been modified near the dashboard and was put back to original shape by W Widar. W Widar was also asked by Marquet to modify the rear of the chassis to lmake it ook like an F2 chassis. At the time this chassis did not have any number. Marquet sold the chassis to Jaladon with IIRC some other bits and pieces and wheels that he had obtained from Hollinger (Marquet had another Tecno, a so called ex Cevert car). I was indeed contacted by Jaladon many years ago who was trying to contact WW who was ill at the time and who passed away a few months later. The history of the car Jaladon was telling included some famous drivers which was difficult to believe knowing the unknown origin of the chassis and the modifications made to it. Incidentally I saw this car a few weeks ago at Ken Thorogood's / URS workshops and it has a chassis number very crudely stamped in the wrong place. This car is certainly a known entity but the true story is that it is not an F2.

I wonder why a Tecno frame would not have a number. If it was a F3 or a F/France, wouldn't it still have a number of some sort? As they are stamped in, they wouldn't go missing by accident and it would take a lot of powder coating to cover one completely.

Gache had the ex-Bayard F2 Tecno, itself said later to be ex-Regazzoni but when it first appeared it was said to be new. Bayard first appeared with the car in June 1970, implying it was a 1969 F2 car.

Dependant on where the frame number is stamped that part of the chassis might easily be replaced when the tubes are cut & replaced after a shunt. I understand that a lot of actually chassis plates went missing after shunts - mechanices removed the plates prior to repairs commencing then not being replaced!

Some owners also liked to collect chassis plates!

Tecno article Autosport 23 May 1969 pp36-37 says 114 F3s built 1967-69 and 15 F2s 1968-69. Also that 10 F2s sold during 1968 and 43 F3s. 62 F3s "have already been sold to client this year". Only two works F2s this year but "Alastair Walker bought a new one".

So that's 6 chassis that were used by him , some chassis much more than others , but they can all claim Cevert as having driven them.

All above from F1R record book.

Bryan.
T00722 was being run in F3 in 1972.
It appeared in the IV Coppa Agip at Monza on 3rd Sept of that year being driven by Gabriele Gatta. Gatta was ninth in Heat 1 and 15th in the Final.
It then appeared in the IX Trofeo Luigi Musso at Vallelunga on 10th Sept again with Gatta at the wheel, however he failed to qualify for the race. Gatta had also failed to qualify at Monza (16/04), Imola (01/05), Monza (27/05) and Monza (29/05). Gatta did Qualify at Varano (11/06) but retired then took 7th at Imola (23/07).

T00808 was also in F3 in 1972.
It appeared twice (16/04 at Monza & 01/05 at Monza) being driven by Marco Fasolini for Scuderia Nettuno. He failed to qualify in April and retired in May.

T00716 was another being run in F3 in 1972.
It appeared 4 times (12/03 Monza, 03/04 Nurburgring, 16/04 Monza & 01/05 Monza) being driven by Luigi Fontanesi for Tecno Racing. He finished 3rd, 2nd & 2nd in the first three events and retired from the fourth.

T00808 was initially run in 1972 by Patrizio Paoli for Scuderia Nettuno. He retired from the Imola race on 23/07. It was then attributed to Sergio Mingotti (Scuderia Nettuno) - no records of events from July onwards.

All this information appears on some photocopied pages from an Italian magazine that recently came into my possession.
