Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to LRP, what a gorgeous track it is!
As a bonus TA ran the old course (without the Uphill and West Bend chicanes). Amy got bumped after the start into turn 1 but managed to recover to P3 to keep her series lead. Great cars and great races to watch, hopefully we can do it all again next year. Make sure to check out the rest of TA's schedule and plan a visit to one of the tracks, the 'real American Muscle Car Racing Show' is not to be missed! And finally: wouldn't the original MkIII DPs (without the 2014 updates but with new Corvette bodywork) make a great additions to Trans-Am? |

Froim 1968 into the eighties I attended at least one race at Donnybrooke every year it was open.
Last time I was there now was a regional bike race in the nineties. I was up in the Brainerd area for the 4th and heard the cars. Maybe next year I will go back and see how much things have changed for better or worse. |

TransAm was always about stock appearing race cars that looked very similar to what you saw on the road. They should maintain their focus on what they are doing correctly (from all appearances) to maintaining and improving what they have now, while having some vigilance on the future (which can not be pulling old DP's out of mothballs, or club racing, or shudder, historics.) |

For those of you (includes me) who are disappointed by the dwindling entry numbers in TUSC and the fact they don't race at Mid-Ohio, the Trans-Am boys are visiting M-O in support to the Nascar Xfinity series, both races (TA + TA3 and TA2) are on Sat. August 15th.
Provisional entry news shows 86 (!) cars in total listed (45/41 split over the 2 groups) with some exciting entry news still to be announced! http://gotransam.cdn.racersites.com/...06%2020152.pdf Still hoping to make it but looking more and more unlikely at this point... |

I read at the Trans-Am rules pages in one class they are trying to phase out the old push-rod engines used for decades and bring in the new ones.
One problem is Ford does not have a new push-rod engine , except the NASCAR one and that would not fit in the class rules. Does anyone know whey they stopped using the 310 engines for the new size. A glut of old NASCAR engines? |

The can just destroke it down to 5l with the NASCAR engines can't they?
I know Trans-Am is now a cheap fun series and it's doing well and shouldn't change things. But I kinda wish they adopted or somebody make a GT3 series out of big engine touring cars. You know a series of GT3 version of Cameros, Mustangs, and Challengers(or charger) |

Quite a bit of controversy at Mid-Ohio where guest entrant Drissi took out championship leader Ruman:

That is wild. I didn't know Drissi was a dirty driver.

If that story is true then he should just be banned from all motorsport, without appeal. That's the kind of stuff that happens in online racing in Forza.

I was thinking the same, he should have his license taken. Also, if I was reading correctly didn't it say something similar happened last year?

yes, article mentioned 'deliberate contact with Ruman (and others) in the last two races at Mid-Ohio'.
Severe consequences, yes. Not sure if TA can suspend his license (if they want to) but they can always reject his entry of course. I hope IMSA will also look into this as he races in PC on a regular base as well. An appeal should be possible imo (we're not in Syria after all) but keep him away from competition as long as the procedure is in process. |

The description in the article make it sound like it was intentional.
For intentional hits in racing, I'd love a flanking charge for bodily harms & attempted manslaughter, actually, no matter what the regulating body does. FIA says there's (still!) roundabout 100 people dying in racing every year (mostly in the "lower" series). (*) An aggressor on the racetrack needs to be reminded of the potential consequences for his victim (i.e., death), say farewell to racing and get to see the inside of a prison for a while. There was a Renault Megane Cup race at Barcelona a couple of years back that was similar wasn't it? Driver very obviously took out another car. Did anything ever come of that?

I think Greg is back for the remainder of the season, not sure though but at least he'll be back for Road America at the end of August.
