True. But the global economy was just starting to tank when that happened. Covid is on its way out and the announcement is coming this weekend so I don't see this one falling through like the hybrid 908.

Well they seem to be spending money on advertising related to racing so fingers crossed tomorrow the announcement confirms all we hope for.

Car looks kinda strange to me, like one of those "car of the future" designs that you used to see like 15 years ago.

Im pretty sure now that the Peugeot "renders" are just a basic shape and not the final car judging on the newly released renders of the ByKolles.

https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...cal-challenge/
Somehow these two points don't seem to match to me “Our history is made around motorsport… In this scope I cannot write the chapter the story of this brand without being in the most demanding [platform]. It was part of the evaluations we were studying but at one point of time I asked Olivier [Jansonnie] and Jean-Marc [Finot], ‘Hey guys, what is the most demanding one and what do you think in terms of technological challenge?’ -- “The concept of the LMH regulations are very different from what we’ve seen before with LMP1 and LMP2 because of the BoP, for sure. Also because it gives an incredible amount of freedom in the design by letting the engineers design the car with almost [complete] freedom." If you have "almost complete freedom" to design whatever you want, and such is controlled entirely by bop, how is that the most technical challenge and most demanding platform possible. I mean, in comparison to spec LMDh it might be (at least that can be seen as positive, that this car is not just rebranded Oreca), but you know... the hydrogen regulation is supposedly coming out only 1,5-2 years later after the launch of the Peugeot LMH still http://www.dailysportscar.com/2020/09/18/277810.html Also announced were the additions to the H24 programme of new partners Richard Mille and French automotive supplier Plastic Omnium, which is to provide the fuel tanks for the 2024 hydrogen category, the lightweight composite tanks capable of containing Hydrogen at 700 bar with advanced impact resistance qualities. (referring to it as 'hydrogen category' is interesting I guess) Last edited by Deleted; 18 Sep 2020 at 21:02. |

http://www.dailysportscar.com/2019/0...-tomorrow.html The ACO’s proposed zero emissions regulations, currently due for 2024/25 are set to target performance levels for the new cars at the same level as the forthcoming revised ‘Hypercar’ ruleset. -- Beaumesnil added that the pushing back of ultimate lap time at Le Mans to a targeted 3:30 contained within the current rejigging of the Hypercar proposal, a change principally designed to accommodate racing versions of roadgoing Hypercars alongside pure-bred racing prototypes in the new top class from 2020/21 would also have the spin-off benefit of making the performance window more achievable by new and emerging racing and automotive technology. https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...-in-top-class/ Instead of its own class, as initially indicated during the announcement last year, it now appears the cars will compete within the top class, which would add another platform to the mix. “This is a work in progress but [it will be a mix] with the same performance,” Fillon said. ^ few months later:
Is the target for these cars to win the race overall? “Able to win the race yes. Maybe not in 2024 but the idea is that these rules give us the framework to allow these cars to have the same performance as current cars and that they would be able to win Le Mans.” http://www.dailysportscar.com/2019/1...ing-group.html |

I seem to remember Romain was quite handy in GTs back in 2010. Be interesting to see how he gets on in a prototype.

Always thought he is an extremely overrated driver. |

He did win a few. Considering he just come off the back of an unsuccessful short lived F1 attempt, I don’t think he was really rated at the time

10 drivers that that Motorsport com thinks Pug should take a look at for their forthcoming Le Mans program:
https://www.motorsport.com/lemans/ne...dget-1&nrt=102 A decent list, and some drivers on there that I think Peugeot should try to snap up asap (JEV and Menezes in particular). |
