Horner defending his driver in the face of the indefensible.
I’d want Horner on my legal team, stood over the body with a bloody knife in hand, Horner states “hang on I have the telemetry to prove he didn’t do it and in fact the cat did it”. |

That would be a dreadful mistake though. Cats have excellent lawyers.

You have to hope that it's a facade that Horner is putting on in public, whereas in private he's telling Max he needs to put a stop to running Lando off the track. But somehow I doubt that...
Perhaps getting 20 seconds of penalties might at least make Max think twice about his actions, should he find Lando alongside him again in Brazil? If not, forget time penalties - black flag needs to come out. He was downright dangerous on Sunday. |

I really wonder whether Horner and Verstappen have any idea how Verstappen's behaviour comes across? Are they that thick skinned? It's not like it's just a couple of races during the course of a season, but two races in a row.

In my opinion (only an opinion), I think they are quite different people. Verstappen truly believes it is his right to be in front and to win. Anyone who interferes with that right has to move or be moved. Horner is dedicated to his role as team principal and (rightly or wrongly) he thinks that includes defending his drivers come what may. However I don't think he actually believes the rubbish he spouts at times, but he is very good at saying it with a straight face.

I agree with you on both counts, but don't they consider how they are perceived by others? Zac Brown has made it very clear what he thinks and he is not alone. |

You presume aswell that Horner runs the team, I think after the earlier debacles of the year Max has far more power with Marko and if you read between the lines maybe Jos than any driver berforehand.
Max is a wrecking ball in that team and I think is allowed to pretty much get away with what he wants, it was similar with Vettel at times, though nowhere near as bad as this, and usually with his own bloody team mate! I just think his self belief is so immense he cannot ever see an issue, it is like a footballer fouling a player and appealing with the hand gestures to the ref, it happens every time, as they simply know no better. I do feel a little for Lando, the two are clearly very good friends and Lando clearly does not want this to escalate, I think ANY other driver would have been gesturing and calling him out far far more. and maybe Lando needs to start doing this a bit, as maybe also a little bit Max is doing a Senna/Prost here as he did with Lewis and doing as Brundle used to say "he leaves you to make the decision as to if you are staying in the race or not" One of my biggest beefs with Brundle is that he says was a good thing, I will always disagree there. Making someone decide to NOT have a collision is not good racecraft it is just stock car racing, Earnhardt level garbage and both are above that. |

What makes you think I presume Horner runs the team and as well as what else? |
