OK, I was only joking

The safety car led the way to the finish in 1999, but did it also do it in 1997? I think it was in operation when the red flag came out.

Fisichella can win again provided he gets a good seat for 2004 (i.e. with McLaren or Williams). Otherwise, no.

Well today a new member joined this club, Alonso.

I am sure he will leave it soon though.

Although I thought Kimi would have left it by now.

Well just to update the list, Jarno Trulli now joins.

How long will he stay in there?

Is anyone suprised that Alonso and Kimi are still one hit wonders?

The current list of `one hit wonders' reads:

1 Luigi Fagioli - France 1951 (Shared win)
2 Piero Taruffi - Swiss 1952
3 Luigi Musso - Argentina 1956 (shared win)
4 Joakim Bonnier - Dutch 1959
5 Giancarlo Baghetti - France 1961
6 Innes Ireland - US 1961
7 Lorenzo Bandini - Austria 1964
8 Richie Ginther - Mexico 1965
9 Ludovico Scarfiotti - Italy 1966
10 Peter Gethin - Italy 1971
11 François Cevert - US 1971
12 Jean-Pierre Beltoise - Monaco 1972
13 Carlos Pace - Brazil 1975
14 Jochen Mass - Spain 1975
15 Vittorio Brambilla - Austria 1975
16 Gunnar Nillson - Belgium 1977
17 Alessandro Nannini - Japan 1989
18 Jean Alesi - Canada 1995
19 Olivier Panis - Monaco 1996
20 Kimi Räikkönen - Malaysia 2003
21 Giancarlo Fisichella - Brazil 2003
22 Fernando Alonso - Hungary 2003
23 Jarno Trulli - Monaco 2004

I can see Panis and Fisichella remaining on this list as OHW, but the other 3 current drivers should win more and get removed.

Out of all of those, Kimi will win many more, for McLaren. and Of course JPM must come away with more than that too. Trulli, yeh, I feel he will only take that one win away..I mean, he did a great job @ Monaco but I just don't think he will go much further.
Fisichella too, is doomed to never do anything more in F1. I don't know what it is, but no top team wants him...

Jaxs has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Innes Ireland wrote in his book that had he had the cars that Clarke had he would have won more races. Well, ..Hmmmm

Of the drivers listed how many were 'second' driver and how many were receiving the best car.

How many careers were cut short by accidents?

Just a quick note:
1 Luigi Fagioli - France 1951 (Shared win) died at the age of 54 still driving, second to Novolari and under orders with the Mercedes to allow german drivers to win.

2 Piero Taruffi - Swiss 1952 very short F1 career, drive sports cars… and a Mille Migla win to finish his career

3 Luigi Musso - Argentina 1956 (shared win) won with sports cars, died in car accident. Teammate to Mike Hawthorn

4 Joakim Bonnier - Dutch 1959 won two GP but one was not part of the F1 Championship calendar .. won with sports cars.

Not really one win wonders...

Other than Kimi, Juan, Fernando, and the pre-war aces (Fagioli and Taruffi), the list of one-race winners can be organized in three categories: the "should have won more, but unlucky; hey, it's better than Chris Amon" group (Bonnier, Ireland, Ginther, Beltoise, Mass, Alesi, Panis, Fisichella, Trulli), the "life or career tragically cut short" group (Musso, Bandini, Cevert, Pace, Nilsson, Nannini), and the "bizarre, out of left field result" group (Baghetti, Gethin, Brambilla, though could also include Mass, Nannini, Panis, and Fisichella).

Colin, is this the best you can do at discrediting the achievement of Jarno, a driver you've never had a good word to say about? Pathetic.

Interesting analysis from Fishflake, although it seems like Bandini would've struggled to win again, and Fisichella hasn't really lost any other wins due to bad luck - he'd go in the third category for me, especially under the circumstances of the race.

Can't see anything esorniloc said (here at least) to discredit Jarno?

I don't think Jarno will be on the list for too long. Still can't remember who it was, but someone who should know said if Jarno wins one GP he'll win ten.

One win don't make him great. OK he was good on his day, but so was Jean-Pierre Beltoise on his one hit wonder at Monaco. Time will tell, if he can win say 10 races or a world championship, but somehow I doubt it.

Shouldn't the list also include Pironi for the win he stole from Gilles?

Pironi also won Holland 82 and one race in 1980. But, of course, you knew that, and just wanted to get a quick anti-Pironi swipe in.

Good threads never die
Time to take Kimi off the one hit wonder list
I think Alonso should get off this list too and may have chance to it this year even. The latest to join this list-Jarno Truli- better win again this year other wise he may stay on it, unless he does go to Toyota and they turn it around while he still is on the team. Next year I think Giancarlo Fisichella will also come off this list as I think Renualt should still be up front.

So who do you think will come off next? Or be the next to joing the one win collum, Jenson Button, Taku, or next year will Mark Webber be the one?

Considering Kimi was off the list straight after the 03 Brazil GP and then went back on it when Giancarlo Fisichella was given the win, it has taken him a long time to finally get removed.

Congrats to Kimi, I for one was getting worried, but yesterday he was sublime. I also agree that Alonso is the next most likely to move off the list. Trulli, I fear, is stuck on it for good.
