I´m not sure about this. It exists an agreement about 10 races (7 european races and 3 oversear races) for 2006.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but I found this in an article from sportscarpros.
"A very urbane German, Thomas Kastgen, was resident in the Russian Age (Cirtek) garage and took title sponsorship of the Aston Martin DBR9, in the name of the Dubai GT Racing Team. We had heard of this team before, it was supposed to be up and running in time for the two Arabian races, but there has been a slight delay, as Mr Kastgen, CEO of the Middle East Aston Martin distributorship, was happy to explain. The team will be formed during the off-season and will run two Aston Martins in the full FIA GT Championship in 2006. Good news, with two more Aston Martins to be run by BMS Scuderia Italia, and by Cirtek. That makes six Astons, off the cuff. The Dubai GT Racing Team will be based at the Autodrome, says Mr Kastgen, and will have at least one local driver on strength. There will be a base in Europe, and drivers have yet to be selected. “I am talking to a number of teams” he says, and the list got longer as word got out." Full article can be found here: http://www.sportscarpros.com/cottonb...on/default.htm |

Is Cirtek planning to field 2 Astons next year?

Good news about the Dubai GT Team though, it's a hotbed of funding in the Middle East. I thought that the project was dead when Marco Saviozzi left Dubai, but I guess not. |

I was in Bahrain and spoke with Hans Rennes from Spyker, he confirmed a full factory-supported 2 car FIAGT, LMES and LeMans effort for 2006, all driven by "top-drivers". Also spoke with Laurence Pearce. Asked him if he was sad that the Lister drove it's last race in his hands (as they announced that they would stop the GT project after this year). Answer was that he was still doubting weather or not to stop it, as he's still convinced that the car has potential. So I think we'll see that car again at least a couple of times next year

Good news for the Storm !!
In my opinion, the Storm needs good tyres and professional driver, than we can see the real speed of the car; in my opinion faster than Saleen and F575 (sometimes) |

Hope they give the car an outing in Britain, then! I agree with mirkob - it was quite strange how the car was suddenly not competitive in 2004 and a complete GT1 backmarker in 2005... drivers and tyres could well be a reason for that..???

Laurence Pearce is an engineer par excellence, and as oft been said before knows what he is talking about. Be great to see the Lister in 2006 again

Good to hear Spyker are committing to next year in GT2, with the 430 GT2 as well, Porsche should have some competition next year. I'm hoping that there will be at least one Ferrari 550 or 575 in GT1 next year. On fiagt.com there was an article pointing to next year stating of 18-20 in GT1 next year. Is that possible? Dont get me wrong I'd love to see those numbers but are they realistic?
This is what I'm guessing so far: 2 JMB Maseratis 2 Vitaphone Maseratis 2 BMS Astons Martins 2 Dubai Racing Aston Martins 1-2 Cirtek Aston Martins (maybe) 1 Lister (at selected races) 1 Saleen (Zakspeed maybe?) 1-2 Corvettes C5R/C6R for CLK Carsport (maybe) Larbre? GPC? Maybe to LMS next year with 2 Aston Martins with factory support?? |

Do we know the JMB Maseratis will be in the FIAGT championship next year? I understand they are looking to run them in the Italian GT Championship, is it possible to run both or do they conflict?
Furthermore, do we know that the Dubai GT team will be seperate from Cirtek? I know Cirtek is definitely looking to run two, but the money has to come from somewhere. Given that I'm uncertain whether the Russian government will pay for next year's operation, and Rob has an arrangement with Aston Martin Middle East already, that would seem like a logical route to follow. |

We could see 2 Zakspeed Saleens, as well as both Konrad Saleens returning (maybe?)..
Possibly one more Corvette and maybe 1 or 2 Ferrari 550's. |

Saleen S7R will at have something else to cheer about.
Check DSC for another addition to the FIA GT1 grid in '06. |

French magazine AutoHebdo reports of a new Austrian team to be formed with Red Bull money (the bottomless wallet ), running 2 Red Bull DBR9's for Wendlinger, Peter and others. Haven't included it in the list below though untill there are more serious clues.
So a little update on the standings, what seems to be the possibilities for 2006. GT1: Aston Martin DBR9 2x BMS Scuderia 2x Dubai GT 1x Cirtek Maserati MC12 2x Vitaphone Racing Saleen S7R 1x Zakspeed Motorsport 1x Balfe Motorsport 2x Konrad Motorsport Corvette C6.R 1x GLPK Carsport Ferrari 550 1x Larbre Competition Lister Storm 1x Lister Racing Ferrari 575 1x GPC Giesse GT2: Porsche 996 GT3-RSR 2x GruppeM Racing 1x Lammertink Motorsport Porsche 996 GT3-RS 1x Vonka Racing 1x Proton Competition 1x Ebimotors Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R 2x Spyker Squadron Panoz Esperantep 2x Team LNT Ferrari F430 GT2 1x GPC Giesse - No JMB. Team has reasonable financial troubles and participation in 2006 FIAGT is very unlikely as the Red Bull guys won't continue with the MC12 program. That's a big financial hole being created, wich will probably move these cars to the Italian GT championschip. That's why I left it out. - GPC: Unsure what they'll do, might continue the 575 as they have it anyways, but maybe a MC12 otherwise? Who knows. - Larbre: Another season with the old bird? They did it as well with the Viper in 2003. |

in a few years everybody thinks about red bull if he reads racing
WRC Skoda also for next year. Think Red Bull want to race LeMans or why do they switch to another team with a DBR9? Ok, JMB Perfomance wasnt always on Vitaphone level too |

According Italian newspaper GPC will have 2 F430 GT2, and Encosse other 2 .
According Cirtek Team Manager declarations, they will run 2 cars in FIAGT2006 (2 Aston Martin?) but maybe 1 with the Dubai Team colors ? |
