In Finland only the 5 door version is named Lacetti, when the 4 door saloon or wagon is Nubira. Why? I don't know.

With the recent change in ownership, and the endictment of the former Lada/AvtoVAZ managers, I'd say the program's chances are now slim.

It would be interesting to see Lada in the WTCC... strangely I've only ever known them to be some kind of joke, Never really looked into them...

In my opinion a touring car is a saloon instead of a hatchback, but I have to admit the SEAT Leon and Ford Focus don't look bad.

For those who know little about Lada, my wife had one purchased second hand, kept for over a year with no problems. Left outside through the winter and started first time every time. Sold for more than we paid for it.
I have also travelled through Russia and seen the condition of their roads and the speed at which they travel over them. I would say that apart from the need for more cars on the grid I wish them every success. |

I've never understood this hangup that some people have over hatchbacks in touring car racing- as far as I can tell the idea that a touring car can only be a 4-door saloon seems to come from the supertouring period. Speaking as someone who first saw touring cars in the Group A years during the early/mid 80's, I've never been too bothered whether it's a 4-door saloon, 2-door saloon, hatchback, coupe or even an estate car- before supertouring, touring cars came in all shapes and sizes.... |

Variety is the spice of life, I'd love to see it happen personally.

VAZ2105 VAZ2107 Maybe they should try to homologate either of those models with Opel 2-litre engine instead of Lada 110. RWD and lighter weight of the base model should be a significent benefit Quote:

Ask yourself: would Tarquini rather drive a 75 turbo or a 156? Ask Tarquini, for that metter, I think I know what the answer will be. Quote:
Honda - isn't that one of these Japanese marques they used to laugh about 40 years ago? Not saying Lada will take the same route (probably won't), just what is wrong with new manufacturers giving it a try? All sorts of shapes keep appearing on the auto market, why do TC fans (?) insist on "proper" saloons that don't represent what people drive on the road anymore? You are not doing yourselves, or the sport, any favours. If we use ur definition the WTCC will look like this in 2010: ...and we don't need that. |
