Yeah, but according to tweets from the track they started off with wet conditions, so it may not be completely 100% dry right now.

#1 Audi has broken into the 1:47 range--a bit faster than the Muscle Milk HPD did in testing.
Will be interesting to see what they'll do, as they haven't been out on track yet I believe. |

Excellent first session time for the 95 Level 5 HPD. 1:52 is very very competitive. Conquest not doing too shabby in their first official session either. Looking forward to seeing how BSR get along throughout the week.

I know it's very early and most of the cars are brand new but the gap at the front doesn't look very encouraging for the petrol cars so far. Already five seconds apart...
The LMP2s seemed to have made a big jump this year, really impressive. Has Starworks actually arrived yet? |

Remember that in 2011 Audi did 1:45s in testing. So the restrictions have slowed them down ... a bit. Remember this comment from Duncan Dayton last year. Quote:

I think that Dindo wants nominated for the remaining Audi WEC drivers' title spot--he just ran a 1:47 and leads the session.
Update: Dindo on the last lap almost broke into the 1:46 bracket with a 1:47.1 |

Strakka in the 1:54s with Nick at the wheel... I wonder what this means for the car's capabilities when Jonny or Danny are driving. Surely it has to be capable of a 1:48-1:49.

I noticed that, and that doesn't seem too shabby for Nick. If he can string those kind of laps together for a stint Strakka might do ok in the WEC.

Muscle Milk have run their first laps--fastest is a 1:51, about 4 seconds off the pace and 5th overall.

Surprisingly the fastest petrol car is still the OAK Pescarolo, been the fastest in the first session and is fastest in this session as well so far.

Now ALMS T&S is attributing the fast laps to McNish--system still have some bugs in it? Then again, drivers don't have to use their ID systems during the promoter test days.

The LMP1-spec OAK-Pescarolo looks quite similar to their 2012 LMP2 upgrade in terms of bodywork, any other differences aside from the engine? Might they be using wide fronts as Dunlop's development team?

i have to disagree, the new morgan lmp2 has a really different bodywork than the oak lmp1 one! the new one is a heavily revised version of that used in 2011 (that was really different from oak pescarolo lmp1 and pescarolo 01 evo). I guess that because of these differences oak should start to firm the chassis as own because day by day the car looks ever more different than a pescarolo 01.
Afterall the arx-01a and b was called acura arx-01 not courage acura (the same for oreca 01 and pescarolo 01) |

Quite a lot of crashes including one of the Audis, even though the times don't look like everybody's pushing really hard. Odd...
