Ah, that was a bit too close.
Hamilton with double the Mercedes podiums of TGF in four races. World class. |

Great race from Alonso, Button must think that 5th is a win considering the current McLaren speed. Vettel made a good attempt on Lewis but just couldn't quite make it. Very exciting.

Hopefully Pirelli bring sensible tyres next time out.
Amazing what a difference Vettel's three made with three laps less on them than Jenson. JB's tyres collapsed after just a few hot sectors. |

Good day for the Aussie in the STR too. Great result.
Combined with Vergne and Webber having an accident, can't do him any harm at all. |

It's Bahrain next week. Surely the same tyres?
I see that from Spain there will be an extra set of tyres available for all teams in Qualifying. |

The DRS/yellow flag infringements were apparently caused by faults in the FIA telemetry system, which is new this year and has been problematic since they set up in Melbourne.
I fail to see how the drivers can be penalised if the system which is supposed to stop the use of DRS fails. |

I would say the drivers guilty of using DRS in the yellow zone, I think they are Vettel, Raikkonen, Button, Grosjean, Webber, Bottas and Chilton, will recieve some sort of penalty. |

Oh, I must have missed that. It'll be interesting to see all the timing info now.
I'd imagine fines & grid drops will be levied. They'd be insane to muck around with the result so much. |

If I'm correct, this means a driver could use DRS anywhere on the track currently. They'd be found out I suspect, but there's no system currently disabling the DRS in non DRS zones. And here comes the penalties. Gutierrez handed 5 place penalty for Bahrain GP for collision with Sutil. Webber handed 3 place grid penalty for Bahrain GP for collision with Vergne. |

And according to a couple of tweets from the circuit, Mr Webber has a 3 place grid penalty for his incident with Mr Vergne...
Makes you think of another Potsie-ism, ironically after a collision with a STR... "Well it's kids, isn't it. Kids with not enough experience, doing a good job then they truck it all up," |

LOL GTR, I don't think MW has ever forgiven that fella for that. No such reaction today though. Below is what MW said about the incident.

Mark was miles back, he made his move too late. Almost hesitant in committing and then made his move when the gap was gone. Completely his fault I am afraid.
Unnecessary grid penalty though, as per usual. |

I thought it was kind of Vergne's fault but I didn't really look at that incident that hard. Have to rewatch it. He could definitely have given Webber the room, it's not like he was going to hold him off for an entire race.
I did find it highly amusing that Mark did it RIGHT in front of Seb, crashing into his own TR teammate while Seb nips up the inside of both of them. After all that's gone now, he goes an puts his foot in his own mouth, I bet Webber would have been so angry with himself. We were set up for a good fight between the two of them as well because Seb was a bit faster throughout the race and would have wanted past. |

Just come up on twitter that rumour has it that Webber has signed a five year deal with Porsche.

Maybe RBR will then take the chance to promote Ricciardo for the rest of the season? Although that would be a bit premature. |

@LeeMcKenzieF1: No action for the DRS infringements. Webber 3 place pen for 'crashing into' Vergne for Bahrain and 5 places for Gutierrez.

reason , FIA was a bit slow in putting out the call to disable the DRS by a minute which lead some drivers to be confused

Sounds like quite an interesting race. I haven't seen it and so must wait and watch the BBC's extended highlights, which is never really quite the same.

There's some really close racing in the first 5 laps. Bad start by Kimi. Good move by the Ferraris on Hamilton.

That was a nice move by Alonso, on the inside of Vettel.
