Race Result

A chaotic race, with 8 cautions for 46 laps and one that Team Penske would would rather forget, coming after the Indy 500. Will Power was in two incidents that brought out the yellow. Scotty Mac did likewise, as well as receiving a penalty. Josef Newgarden also got a penalty, for running over the air-gun hose, as well as being involved in an incident with Alex Palou and the fueling rig sprung a leak.

In contrast that was good result for Chip Ganassi, especially for Marcus Armstrong finishing 3rd to claim his first podium.

Colton Herta managed to ruin his race again but Marcus Ericsson turned things around for Andretti Global and himself, after a terrible Indy 500, by finishing 2nd.

Honda took all the podium places on Chevrolet's turf.

(A friend wasn't. He thought the long caution periods didn't compensate for the crashfest.)

I didn't think the caution periods were that long compared to some races, just that there were too many.

In most cases things were tidied up pretty quickly I thought.

The layout clearly lends itself to misaps though!

It's clear from the various overhead tv shots that there are a lot of roads around the location that could be included if a revision is called for.

This friend had not seen a race in decades, so his tolerance for stoppages is minimal.
