What counts as a 'Classic rally car' for this event? (or more specifically would a Mk2 Escort count? It's fitted with a 2 litre Zetec). If it counts I'll see if my driver fancies a pop at this, otherwise we'll just have to watch.

Anyone got a list of hotels/b&b's close to the track and reasonably priced

Anuauto has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
"Group B had few restrictions on technology design and the number of cars"...it says on the event site linked above.
Well actually, Group B was introduced with exactly the same technical regulations as Group A, except for allowing dry sumping and requiring 200 off rather than 5000 off. There was no provision for "Evolution" in either originally. Almost everything on wheels that couldn't comply with GroupA or N was re-homologated into Group B. I just don't like to see history being re-written. Fine if you want to promote a narrow bunch of Group B cars, but lets remember "Group B" itself was nothing special at all. I did the RAC Rally in a Group B car that was effectively the former Group One spec, alongside a lot of others that were.

If I can get hold of a Metro 6R4 or any other type of classic car I have had it from a top driver that he will come and race
I am not saying who it is yet as I am working on getting a car for him but he will definately pull in the crowds

At last night's committee meeting the decision was taken not to proceed with the event on March 18th as only 8 entries had been received. DDMC will, however, continue to move forward with this event with a view to finding a suitable Summer date

Bad news Mark. I hope the re-arranged date attracts a bigger entry, there are plenty of these cars about so why aren't people taking the chance to show them off?

If anyone has made hotel bookings that you can't get out of, you could take in the Border Counties Rally in Kielder instead. I know it's not the same but it's better than nothing.
info here
