Thoughts on qualifying system?
Seems a bit convoluted to me, but then again, could be worse, anyone remember the STCC system a couple of seasons back...?! |

Saturday's race a straight-forward 30 mins qualifying. No problem with that as that's normal for most series.
Sunday's 2 races use the old WTCC format - Q1 > Q2 > top 5 shootout, with the first race of the day with reversed top ten from Q2. I've never liked that idea. if you make a mistake or have a problem in qualifying and finish outside the top ten, then that's pretty much your entire weekend ruined. |

Nah.. nice list, but teams, cars and drivers so far were ever shifting in TCR. Last year I made a similar list for 2017 and I think I only got Vernay at Leopard and Oriola at Bamboo right... out of 15+ predicted entrys.

Bári Dávid (M1RA) wrote today it's absolutely not sure they can enter in the WTCR, because it requires much more money and resource, so there is a high chance to stay in Europe, maybe in one of the local championship. As I know Lada doesn"t have a TCR legal car just like Volvo (I know, they start to develope one). |

Munnich-Honda, more probably.
Nash said weeks ago that he wants to come back in the BTCC. |

They do indeed, the photo in this article is in fact of a TCR LADA in action in Russia:

Coronel has said he has four options for next year, and confirmed that ROAL is one of them. Boutsen-Gineon will likely be one of the others as well. And maybe Münnich could be one, as there were roumours he would join them anyway in 2017, and I think BRC racing could be an option, as he tested for them.
And if MIRA will me on the grid, it'll probably be with Michelisz, right? I can't imagine him driving for an other team than his own. RC Motorsport is a French team, right? Then I think that a Peugeot is more likely than the Lada. If Comini is going to drive a Subaru, than there will need to be a Subaru team on the grid. But who will take that chance, as it has not shown any potential so far. |

I'd like to know more about the Volvo. What car would they be likely to use?
I guess its either going to be the S60 or V40. |

26 car limit & increased entry fee explained
Manufacturer involvement to be expected To be honest I don't mind either. The car limit and entry fee will enforce a certain amount of professionalism, and GT3 has shown manufacturer involvement doesn't mean less of a show. |

I think all the right ingredients are there for a great first season, especially if Volvo are involved

Honestly I didn't expect Volvo to engage in TCR as I thought that for Volvo electric cars is the future and they won't be really interested in continuing with touring cars, especially after what they did to Supercars programme in Oz. But this is great that they're going to remain.

Personnally, i think the more manufacturer involvement, the better. And if a true privateer steals the show, even better... Sports are about the narrative, the storys. And david vs goliath is the ultimate underdog story we're secretly all longing for. Thats the main reason DTM sucks so hard... its goliath vs. goliath vs. goliath. Its like watching Real vs. Barca. Every weekend. For the rest of your life.
