My well considered guess is that we will go back in time to about the late 1970's or early 1980's and format race meetings like was done then when everyone went and enjoyed themselves. Then, just like the situation that we are in now there were just a couple of championship classes at race meetings and the remainder of the days sport and entertainment was the domain of the event organising club. I just hope it goes the whole way for in those days even prize money was paid out, usually down to about 10th placing too.

Best to just forget the new NZV8 car option, unproven and still no car complete, and why go to all that trouble for 3 cars, and anyway V8ST is 24 Cars only maximum, and why would the people of NZV8ST want them in the first place anyway? they had there chance and chose to back the wrong horse in the first place

I really dont think that article spells the end of the next gen NZV8 program at all. Its just one persons subjective opinion on the differences between the two series, and he's way wrong anyway by tipping his hat to the NZV8's by suggesting that they did a great job of social media....they did a crap job.
His point about how V8ST should improve how they play with social media is crap too, not everyone is on Fazbook and not everyone has the time to 'tweet', so for some of us we just go straight to their website which is updated regularly to look for whats going on. He also suggested that the NZV8's have tested a prototype too, which they havn't, all they have done is some limited testing with the new chassis but with the old running gear....i dont call that a prototype at all Its a pointless article that doesn't tell us anything we dont know already. |

In the current economic climate I don't think there are enough entrants/car owners and sponsors to run two similar series - there is just not enough money to go around.
This is evident in the current situation where ST have "taken" most of the star drivers, entrants/team owners and sponsors and irrespective of how good or bad the New Generation NZV8 might be, they are struggling to get momentum primarily as a result of poor numbers of cars actually sold. All this compounds as with low numbers of entrants the sponsors don't have confidence in a robust series to get exposure and payback for the dollars they invest and without sponsors, most entrants can't afford to buy or run a car ............ |

NZV8's are useless and can't make the numbers on the Grid, Just let the SuperTourers Run all Season and be the Number 1 Motorsport series in kiwi land. It the best form of racing going around (in NZ) theyre better looking too imo.

And therein we have the problem, I guess if TMC had done their job properly in the first place then the split would never have happened. I'd be very interested to find out exactly what went on in that meeting...

Media Statement - MotorSport Promotions Ltd
Wednesday 1 August 2012 MotorSport Promotions Limited, the body charged with the running and management of the MSNZ Championship race series and summer series events has made significant changes, signalling a changing of the guard and a new approach for the company. Following on from the appointment of new directors and the adoption of a new trading name, the company wishes to advise the resignations of Kerry Cooper and Martin Fine from the positions they previously held. Kerry and Martin will remain available to wrap up the last financial year and assist with the setup of the company for the coming season as required. As the motorsport community is aware, the company requires some urgent action and this required the implementation of a new, interim, structure. Shareholder representatives have been advised of these changes in advance of this message. An interim management team lead by David Dovey will take responsibility for the company's operations. The administration functions of the company will be contracted to MSNZ, supervised by Brian Budd. Amanda Tollemache assumes the role of Event Manager. Brian Lawrence will continue in his role of NZV8 Marketing and also extend this to series marketing. There has been comment that change was not happening quickly enough, however some interim steps were required to establish the correct position and plot a way forward. There has been comment from some quarters that MSNZ should not be involved in the business. However, given the events of the past seasons and the current state of the company we require administrative and if necessary, some financial back up from MSNZ. MSNZ support will strengthen the company for the future and ensure security of the Gold Star titles. The company faces a number of challenges, but the team now in place have a genuine commitment to ensure that MotorSport New Zealand's Championship Gold Star series remains positive and in good health. John Fowke Chairperson MotorSport Promotions Ltd so where is the series ending or plug being pulled part? if anything.. this is a postive press release. about bloody time! |
