Doesn't Paul Gentilozzi own a strip club? Or did he in the past? That's what I have read, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, if so, maybe the boys are getting paid by getting VIP treatment. That could explain how he got the Jaguar money as well!

Times in today's first practice were not too bad at all! Maybe things are looking up.

Both Jaguars have managed to have problems at exactly the same time during the night test. One went off, the other I'm not sure.

Digging deep into the memory banks I think he is/was involved in publishing? There was a big hoo-rah when they put a "porn" magazine on the car, even though it was only a branch magazine for the industry. Maybe it was just a sponsor, but I remember the incident.

press release said alternator failure caused wiring failure. they got back out just in time to take the checkered and do total 35 laps. anyone else think theres more to the story? on the plus side, the other car did 256 laps, not bad.

I thought the 98 had a solid run, really good to see that many laps in the books. Hopefully this is something the team can build on for the rest of the season.

I agree. It wasn't a bad result at all, considering that they finished the race, even ahead of many cars in class. Pretty much everyone agrees on this.

It 'a result that gives hope. They have however shown that it improved the car in terms of reliability.

Update: JaguarRSR FINISHES SIXTH IN THEIR STRONGEST RACE FINISH AFTER RUNNING IN SECOND POSITION
The #98 Jaguar RSR (Junqueira/Da Matta) sixth in GT Class at Long Beach Grand Prix, second race of the ALMS 2011 Da Matta: "I am really happy for the Jaguar and the RSR team. The main point is that since yesterday morning's first practice through today in the race, we didn't have any issue and this weekend was just about developing the #99 JaguarRSR XKR GT. It is nice to have this result from all the hard work we have been doing since Sebring. For me, it was a great time, I got time to just drive the car and get more mileage under my belt." Gentilozzi: "We had great fuel mileage and engine performance, the Jaguar direct-injected engine with the help of Motec controls showed us why the Jaguar is the leading production car for power and economy The Dunlop tires are really helping us get up to speed and things are coming together. We made a strategy choice and that choice left us sixth, but we don't feel bad splitting the BMW's and finishing ahead of the a couple of the Ferraris. It was a good event for us, now we will have a couple of months off in which we will be very busy developing and improving for the busiest part of the season." |

Compared to how we know this team, it is an extremely good result for them. I still think that their cars need lots of work if they want to keep being competitive on a constant basis, like this weekend.

Being a street race, the cars rely on more mechanical grip, whereas at most other tracks it is aero. The aero is simply not there for the Jag yet, though they are working on it. Decent speed (fastest lap) for them though.

Not directly sportscar related but could have implications as Jaguar aim to take on directly the German brands.
There'll be a press conference tommorow according to the BBC. http://uk.autoblog.com/2011/05/05/40...guars-by-2016/ PS, a historic Lightweight E-Type back on the road, value, £5m! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-13298061 |

Could the end be nigh for the RSR and the XKR on track? Jaguar have just announced the CX-75 road car. They will make around 250 cars, and some of those will be made exclusive for Motorsport involvement. They have announced their partnership with WilliamsF1.

But its with hybrid power, rather than conventional petrol/diesel propulsion, so don't see it replacing the XKR. Maybe something may spin off from it in the future, but the car isn't released until Autumn 2013 so its a way off yet.
